Barbizon, a small rural village about 10 km from the 'Palais Fontenblouse', about an hour south of Paris, is home to many artists who have lived and worked to create a 'Barbizon wave'.
The artists who lived there are famous for Corot, who mainly drew landscapes, Théodore Rousseau, naturalist, and Millet who influenced the genius painter Van Gogh and settled there.
It is a village of artists who stayed at the Auberge du Père Ganne, packed their tools every morning, drawn in the nearby Fontainebleau forest.
