Part two of the 10th episode focuses on making a longer handle or cranking arm for the winch by repurposing a painter's stirring stick. The film includes test flights with the new handle by a pair of Schweizers, 31" & 36" spans, on 1.11.23 in Wawayanda, NY, where it was 27º, overcast, but relatively calm. The winch is based on a design by Peter Kaiteris. It's adaptable, so use whatever replacement parts you may have on hand, ie, a broom handle instead of a wooden stake, or a large paperclip instead of .032" K&S music wire. Or you can use a different winder, preferably 10:1 ratio and under.

Models shown at the start of the film were made by Dave Mitchell, Tom Hallman, and Doug Beardsworth.
The 36" Schweizer 2-22 model will be the FAC one-design for 2024. A short kit of the model will be available from Volare Products in September 2023. Stay tuned for the announcement, later in 2023.
