2204as Yea the bass is a little too much for me sometimes when have mine on full blast, but some tones sounds great at low volume full blast bass, but cool thing is, is that ITS STILL TIGHT on 10! Never an amp I've owned could ever do that. They are also mic'ing the bottom V30 in the cab which has more highs than the Greenbacks. Dave told me he only runs bass on 10 when he can't crank the volume up to atleast 4. He says to get more of a plexi original tone then keep bass around 11;00-12:00 and bring mids and highs up a bit. Really opens up the BE.
@2204as

Got it, might be the recording setup plus the speakers (i do have a GB/H mix). And yes the BE stays tight even with maxed bass. Still mine is 12 o'clock most of the time or even less...

One thing I want to hear from a guitarrist testing this kind of amp, is to play a long note, so the amp goes on feedback, nobody´s do that. Feedback is important in that type of amps. My humble opinion.

DO IT!! It is amazing. Every time I plug into it, I'm left with this stupid grin on my face. I have had so many amps, from Orange to Marshall's, Vox's, Carvin, Fenders, and I have never been completely happy, until now. When I first got it, it sounded a little bit too bright, but I think the capacitors needed to mellow out. After the first 10 hours or so, I noticed it started to warm up, and It just keeps sounding better and better as time goes on. Now it sounds super warm and saturated. You can dime the gain, and when you play a chord, you can hear every note in the chord with clarity. The low end is super tight. No flubiness at all. It has a great V.H Brown sound too. The clean channel is chimey and bright. The knobs are super sensitive. Just turning the treble up or down slightly makes a huge difference in the sound. If you have a Strat, and you turn on the fat switch on the back, and put the gain on about 4, you get this amazing S.R.V. tone. I use an MXR 10 band E.Q. to get my Brown sound perfect. Everyone who hears it agrees that I have the first album tone nailed. You will not be unhappy with it.

I know I played one at gc I wanted input from someone who has one! I want one so bad! I had that stupid WOAH HAHAHAHA thing going on in the store when I played it. I do want the older model that has the 50 watt attenuator. Is that the one you have?
@goneflying140
8 жыл бұрын
+Anthony Coughlin Mine is the newer one. it doesn't have the 50 watt switch, but it has an effects loop master volume in back. If you use any effect, put it on about 5 or 6, and it really limits how lout it gets. you can crank the gain and volume on the front panel, and turn the effects volume down, and get full power tube distortion at really low volumes. Using the Sat switch lowers the overall volume a little too, and really saturates the tubes. I bet you can get the overall volume lower with power tube saturation with the newer version than you can with the Old one without the effects master on the back.

LittleJack2105 maybe because Doug’s using his treble pick up? But I have everything about noon. I use neck or both hbs on the SB limited. Plus I’m not saying Doug’s deaf in no way but pros lose their hearing after many yrs of playing live and loud and overcompensate by upping the treble.

@TruthSurge
4 жыл бұрын
@Fusion72 Hey, great for him. I mean, whatever people want to do and whatever $ they can get is just dandy with me. I simply asked WHY the cost was so much when it's just a basic tube amp like from the 60s when Marshall did a tube amp head. Sure 60 years of inflation, but it's odd that some prices go DOWN over time but I suppose those are mass-produced and these are done by a few employees. Oh, I could build one - with enough time but no, it probably would not be as well-built since I don't do that for a living but yeah, I know how to solder and I have a degree in computer science and know Ohm's law. :) I just can't see spending that kind of money on an amp head. If I had money to burn, sure. I just dabble around with plugins anyway. I might lose that loud real amp thing but it's nearly infinitely flexible (change sounds after you record your guitar) and I get nearly an infinity of possibilities with guitar rig and peavey revalver and lepoulin stuff. There's a lot of amp heads/cabs in there and even an amp modeler that works pretty well. I mean, I think I literally invested like $50 and upgraded to revalver 4.0. For just studio stuff, it's nice. I guess all those guys who play out have to use either a real amp or something portable. I would love to have a Hughes & Kettner head. But.... I also would love a real Les Paul. I'm just very stingy with $. :) later!
