Yes, it's difficult to follow Chopin. It's better to find something else if you don't want to be compared to something less good.

Great to have these available. The whole set was recorded by his grand-pupil Gunnar Johansen on his Artist Direct label but the sound is very reverberant and frankly not great. We need a decent recording of the whole set and indeed more of Friedman's piano music and transcriptions.

Friedman is one of my favorite pianists, his chopin recordings are genius. His music is as beautiful as his pianism, thanks for uploading.

I'd like to hear Ignaz Friedman's other etudes from the 16 in op. 63. These appeal to me as do his recordings of other composers. One of the great pianists and a fine composer.

Interesting. Had I not seen the composer in the title, I would have guessed Moszkowski. 😁
If you had to classify him, would you say romanticism or XX century? I ask because I have channel for each period and I need to know if Friedman must have a playlist in the romanticism channel or in the XX century one

I’d definitely call this late Romanticism :)

Well ... by Chopin standards, the harmony goes somewhat off the rails during the development section. But that's what makes late romanticism such fun.

wow, you can really taste the Chopin in the first and ninth one though, I'm probably very biased, but these pieces definitely lack something of note; I don't know what though...
