To compress the caliper cylinders without the ratchet special tool you keep the old pads in and pry against each side with a screw driver.

I’m searching for a video on the previous gen and clicked on this one and within the 1st 30 seconds of doing the work I’m already jealous. The newer ones use just regular sockets. I have to go searching for a gigantic torx bit for my 2010. 🤬

A quick swipe with a flannel is not good enough. The Pistons need to be scrupulously cleaned before pushing them back into the Caliper, otherwise you're pushing all the built up road crud into the Seals.

You can leave the caliper on and just remove the pad bolt.

Really only 6 nm for that torx? Where do you read it ? I'm doing the same thing, but I'm little bit afraid to be rong with that torque.

Your 2018 GS has Brembo calipers. My 2019 RT has Hayes calipers. Are the Brembo calipers superior to Hayes?

Sorry, why do you think brake pads EBC is better than Brembo?

Hi, Over the years just trying to see how is the performance on this brand, a lot of people recommend me this brand!

I changed the pads on my 2015 R1200r, same braking system, and also used EBC. The reason though, was price. $230 for Brembo pads from dealer vs $80 for EBC. If the price difference was closer, I would buy the Brembo's. Both are good, Brembo pads lasted a long time. We'll see about the EBC'S in that regard.
