The calipers will not allow the wheel to come out. On the V-rod you do not have the clearance between wheel and caliper to just pull the wheel right out. Look at how the wheel is designed, and note the location of the caliper. It is offset toward the wheel.

I suppose to each their own but I have had many a bike where I never took the calipers off to get the wheel out.

@@1topfueldrag Not true. The pinch bolts keep the axle in place so it doesnt rotate.
