I had a frontosa for 35 years only to lose him in Hurricane Sandy He was 15 inches long and I just feed him one boiled egg with a fish net to catch the poo The high protein diet was the key Very smart fish who loved belly rubs and TV No other fish would bother him because of his size and deep black lines

I have found they are definitely a shy calm species...I have also found they go great with some calm geophagus from south American and Angel fish too...I like mixing my fish as long as they are not wild caught...water parameters don't matter as much to tank raised fish as long as they stay steady w no big flux.

Thanks so much for this video! In case you're still monitoring these comments, I am wondering whether you have ever heard of keeping a small frontosa colony with altolamprologus conpressiceps (another Tanganyikan tank mate) in a 100+ gallon tank. I see other fish in there with your colony, but wondered whether you had any ideas about that fish variety in particular and any effects it might have on breeding/overall happiness, etc. Thanks!
@AquazoneQC

Yes that's good tank mate. Except of Frontosa makes babies, then the adult altos will swallow them up

Beautiful tank and quality knowledge. I just got 5 of them and was planing to mix them with haps but will be making a separate tank for them as you recommended they require low light. I’m having juveniles around 3 inches so how many time you recommend to feed?

Good info. Thinking about doing a frontosa tank. I currently have a 90 gallon empty. I have a 140 with Malawi haps. Maybe the 90 gallon will do till I get a 220 for the haps which are mostly 6 to 8 inches now.

thanks for the video. quick question. i have a colony right now that i plan to move to a bigger tank. i also have a 8-9 inch male in a south american tank. it’s the big boss in that tank. a good boss. no damage when putting fish in their place just a nudge here and there. would it be ok to combine this colony and the boss in a bigger tank? how would you do it? would the smaller fronts survive? the smaller fronts are 3 inches

Hey great video keep it going. I have frontosa little bigger than 2inches and I have a less than a inch baby baby frontosa in a breeder net inside the tank, and I let them swim together and big frontosa layed on its side when they met I was scared as SHIT thinking it would end bad but he kept nipping and chasing the little guy around I don’t know what to do. Do you have any advice?

Rearrange the rocks and decors right before lights out. Release everyone. Turn off lights and in the morning they will all have found territory.

A lot of great information. Beautiful fish. Do you recommend feeding pellets. I’ve been feeding my mobas mostly Northfin cichlid formula jumbo size. They are never too excited about eating when I feed them. However by the next morning it’s all gone. I’ve been giving them bloodworms once a week and they literally eat out my hand and go crazy. Any thoughts on this?

Izabella AquaZone Aquarium Services yes, I’ve been clean for 2 years now but yeah me & my friends got drunk & high in my apartment at one time & I took a dump in my 75 gallon for laughs & curiosity. I never cleaned it because I thought the filter had it covered. 3 days after that all my fish but my pleco died.
