Disney Animation can do no wrong typically. But Disney itself can. It spent millions on movies like a Wrinkle in Time, Solo, and the Nutcracker last year and they all lost Disney money. They have enough successes to offset their losses, but you can't say that they can do no wrong.
@FandomZone

Solo was a fantastic movie that was not Disney’s fault it went so badly at the box office, that was entirely from fan backlash at last Jedi and the issues they had making it. But those others yes, horrid, let us never speak of A Wrinkle in Time again. Generally they have way more successes than losses and the remakes are often much more enjoyable than not. They have a solid win loss record overall

It's about Elsa going on a quest to discover the origin and secrets of her powers, and perhaps of all magic, which turns out to be elemental in nature. She needs these answers in order to find a way to save Arendelle from a disaster related to elemental magic that was triggered by her own magic. Something called her (she can hear, only in her mind, a three-note tune that sounds like the mockingjay whistle without the last note), and apparently triggered her powers to give her a vision of the elemental spirits, and then her powers triggered the disaster. It sure seems that Elsa will have to fight those elemental spirits, and they are most formidable. I could reveal more, but that would be stepping into spoiler territory. All I will say is that the story is not as farfetched as many of the theories floating around, and may seem straightforward in comparison, but there will be some shocking surprises, especially for Elsa, and to me, what I know of it makes a lot of sense and is very well told. I don't know how the movie will end, but the interesting thing is that if--and remember that I said "if"--they have a third movie planned for a trilogy, then I feel there is a distinct possibility that _Frozen II_ will end on a sad note with the characters devastated...to be continued in _Frozen III_ , of course. If not, then Elsa's dilemma (not saying what I think it will be) will be resolved in a happy ending. While I'm not generally in favor of Disney Animation making more sequels, in this case I would make an exception if _Frozen II_ would be this franchise's equivalent of _The Empire Strike Back_ . No, Darth Vader will not be Elsa's father, it will be something else. ;)

In the first movie disney used only the silbings story from the original Book (the search, finding the castle, „the slowly turns you into ice“-curse and „only the true love can, be the rescue“-stuff) written bye Hans Christian Andersen (the little mermaid (Arielle) is also a book from him) Im sure in this part we meet finally the other 3 Queens of the seasons (i think they already showed us at least the fall (according to the book: a cheeky young girl with red hair thats act like a tomboy) and maybe Spring but changed her to a guy (mostly slow and sleepy, like drug addict) In the book was the Summer Queen (yellow/blonde hair like the sun, beautifully, gentle, smart and kind, but really hated the snow queen) the exact opposite to the bad, malignant, cold hearted Snow Queen Maybe Summer becomes this time the villain 🤷🏻♂️

It would be interesting if it followed that tale. Hopefully not as dark as Anderson normally writes though haha could span over several movies if they search for the other seasons which would be nice. There are no siblings (as main characters) in the original fairy tale "The Snow Queen". Gerda, the protagonist, is a young girl whose best friend is a young boy named Kai. The Snow Queen, who is apparently a cold-hearted, malevolent winter sprite (not an actual queen at all) who derives much of her power from an evil magic mirror, sees the children and their warm feelings for each other, and uses magic to turn Kai cold, freezing his heart. Kai turns against Gerda, who is confused but still loves her friend no matter what. The Snow Queen swoops in on her sleigh and kidnaps Kai, who willingly comes along and becomes even colder when she kisses him. One more kiss would freeze him solid or something dire like that, but is heart is already frozen. Most of the story is a long road trip (this is a very long story for a fairy tale of this era) during which Gerda interacts with a bunch of interesting characters (the most famous of which is the robber girl) in her desperate search for her dear friend. With the help of a loyal reindeer, she finally makes it to the Snow Queen's castle, and finds Kai acting like a zombie obsessed with ice. Gerda is so filled with love that the Snow Queen is powerless to stop her (she tried pretty hard with her powers), and eventually Gerda is reunited with Kai, whose heart is still frozen. Gerda's tears melt his frozen heart, Kai returns to normal, the Snow Queen vanishes, and Gerda and Kai go back home, visiting and thanking everyone who had helped Gerda along the way. This is a summary of the whole fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen. I'm not aware of the other things you mention. _Frozen_ is almost nothing like "The Snow Queen" apart from a few ideas such as the frozen heart, someone with cryokinetic powers, and that love can thaw. And _Frozen II_ is not going to go back to the book, either, but rather create its own story and mythology that is based on Norse mythology and the classical elements. Interestingly, what many other cultures considered the classical elements cannot be found directly in Norse mythology, although there is a myth about a giant, who could be said to rule over the land (earth), whose three sons rule over the sea (water), fire, and wind (air): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fornj%C3%B3t Perhaps he had a daughter, too--a long-lost daughter who rules over the cold....

Elsa is on a quest to learn about her powers, and needs to cross this body of water, which is guarded by the Nokk, a powerful water elemental spirit who appears in the form of a horse. There is no villain that I know of, but the Nokk and three other elemental spirits will challenge Elsa to her limits, if not beyond. In fact, since Elsa proves to be so powerful and determined herself, the Nokk will resort to trying to drown her, repeatedly. The following is only what I've inferred and deduced, but seems to make sense. Judging from the aftermath of Elsa's battle with the fire elemental that we catch a glimpse of in the second trailer, I believe that Elsa is alone afterward to keep the others safe--the elementals are simply too powerful, and she doesn't see how Anna and the others could help her fight them. Kristoff probably agrees, and they all decide to let Elsa continue ahead alone, except for Anna, of course, who sneaks away to chase after Elsa, which is why we see her all alone at times, too. Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven probably started chasing after Anna, getting all of the main characters involved once again, albeit separated by some distance from each other in three groups. This doesn't explain why Anna is seen just with Olaf at one point so the truth is a bit more complicated, but something like this is probably going on.

There is definitely a distinction between "Disney" and Disney Animation when it comes to movies, even if we put aside the animation aspect. Disney Animation was the original studio founded by Walt and Roy Disney in 1923. It used to *be* "Disney" and now it is only one of a handful of entities that are owned by the Disney company that maintains direct ties to Walt, has a strong sense of history and continuity, and carries on his legacy (the others being Imagineering and the theme parks they design). Walt produced live-action movies, too, but the current live-action studio isn't nearly as connected to Walt, and indicatively they are no longer connected to Disney Animation, either. Back in Walt's time, the latter naturally made all of the animation that was sometimes used in the former, including any special effects that required animation. But now Disney Animation is completely isolated, producing animation, including all of the special effects, solely for their own movies instead, while the Disney live-action studio outsources their animation and special effects needs to other companies, just like any other live-action studio. As you might suspect, the standards of the live-action studio for storytelling and other aspects of quality are well below those of Disney Animation, which as I have already pointed out is still truly Walt's original studio and, in my view, the *real* Disney, not the huge conglomerate that owns half of Hollywood by now. Not that they can do no wrong, as they are only human, but Disney Animation have a sense of pride in their reputation and feel a responsibility to their founder Walt Disney to do the best possible job they can. Although it is subject to the whims of Disney management (and has suffered at times for this), this studio really is set apart, functioning in relative isolation. They have nothing to do with the live-action or realistic CGI (as opposed to the caricatured cartoons in stylized environments Disney Animation continue to make) remakes that the live-action studio produce. In fact, although nobody is asking and nobody is speaking up, I can imagine the staff at Disney Animation being offended by these cheesy remakes of their animated features.

This is Disney Animation here--the parents are dead and will stay dead (that's how they like them! ;) ). Bringing them back in some kind of twist would cheapen death in general, now and in the future. They can get away with killing a major character momentarily and have done this (including Anna, along with Meg and a bunch of others), but except for the occasional ghost, I've never seen them bring back a long-dead character whose death impacted the protagonist(s), and there are good reasons for this. When Disney management practically forced the directors of _Frozen_ to make a sequel, of which they had no intention of making and hadn't given any thought to, what they decided to do was truly put themselves in the place of the characters instead of looking at this from any other point of view. What management might have wanted didn't matter, and fortunately they were not dictating anything except that a sequel was to be made. What fans wanted didn't matter--there have been many direct requests (even demands from some!), and the directors were nice and always said they liked the ideas and would consider them, but so far they have not incorporated any of them. And they did not force their own perspective as to what would supposedly be the "best" route to take--the "best" story to tell that would please themselves and the audience. The box office was also not a consideration, as they do not believe it is possible to predict, much less force, things like box office success. All they did was look entirely through the perspective of the characters to figure out what they would do, and the answer was that Elsa needed to know why she is the way she is. Wouldn't anyone if they were in her place? This is what _Frozen II_ is about. The story does not require this, and in some ways it might be better off if this avenue were not explored. That's what happened with the original _Frozen_ when during development the directors had initially tried to explain Elsa's powers, but none of their ideas were as good as simply saying she was born with them. But now, after the significant events of the first movie, the directors felt that Elsa requires this, and after about two years of knocking their heads together, apparently they have found an origin story for Elsa's powers that they consider worth telling.
@rbrtck
5 жыл бұрын
As for wind powers, Elsa does have some wind and other telekinetic powers, even including matter transmutation. The former was how she magically assembled Olaf and lifted Anna to put on her literal ice-skates, and the latter was and is how she makes her clothing. Her Internet avatar in _Ralph Breaks the Internet_ additionally conjured whipped cream, I think, albeit this is probably not canonical. And we could even consider the sentient, sapient life she can create as representing the ultimate telekinetic power. I'm pretty sure that Elsa is the only human with powers, and even then she might not be fully human, as I think she will discover--human on the outside, but a magical being on the inside (perhaps in her soul). All of the other beings that have powers in the movie are also magical beings--giants and elemental spirits. Anna will almost certainly *not* have any powers.

@@FandomZone This is something some people want, but the directors will take the story wherever they feel it is taking them, and so far there is zero indication of there being a lesbian love interest for Elsa. I know you just said girlfriend, which could be platonic, but I'm just cutting to the chase and naming the real subject. ;) Truth be told, it would be a huge distraction from the story they're trying to tell, and the fact that the directors have always viewed Elsa as heterosexual would seem to work against the odds of such a revelation happening (they could change the character in their minds, but they're not exactly chomping at the bit to do it like some people wish they were--they have other stories they'd rather tell).
