I think we always need to think how to compose the shots😉

Thanks for sharing you dream film camera with us. My dream landscape film camera is a 6x9cm Fuji GSW690 medium format rangefinder with a fixed 65mm wide-angle lens. I love to pair it with a 6x9cm Ansco Viking medium format folding camera with a fixed 105mm normal lens.

Giving very serious consideration to getting this particular model. One question I have before opting for this over any of the later models though, is whether the viewfinder corrects for parallax given that it’s off to one side of the lens?

Great comment, and yes it does - as you focus the lens the range finder moves with the focus mechanisim so you alwasy know what is and isnt in your frameline. It is a wonderful camera - Sadly no longer with me due to owning too many cameras, but its one a regret selling!

I’ve had the 690iii for a few years to keep same workflow as my Leica M cameras. Pretty good camera with a superb lens. Noisy shutter sound but that’s the counter on the bottom causing that. Taking long exposures is a bit of a faff but otherwise it just gets the job done. Nik and Trick do various 220 but the Shanghai GP3 is a now a good film. It used to be rubbish but they’ve partnered with Orwo and got it sorted, basically it’s Orwo film slightly altered.

Hi Nick, thanks for the comment, I did spot Nick and Trick and the 220 film, the GP3 might even make an appearance on the channel soon ;)... But I do love the 6x9, and the lens is super sharp

I’ve tried a few MF cameras and this is the only one I got on with. Hasselblad got ditched after 6mths, my Mamiya C330f is great but you could anchor a ship with it. I haven’t found the focal length as limiting as I thought either. GP3 is a bit like Orwo UN54 and very useable. Its exposure latitude isn’t quite as good as FP4 or TMAX 100 but it’s perfect for general purpose shooting.

@@Nick_r I chose the gw690 on the basis that I wanted the biggest negative possible, with a rangefinder body, that was portable - that was the only choice, and I am so glad I took the plunged when I did and picked it up below market value, so get to enjoy it and know I didnt pay through the nose for it.

Which version of the GW690 did you get? Is this the MK1 version? I am on the fence for one but not sure if I should go for mk2 or mk3? The mk2 seems to have a more metal built?

@@mahdimanesh4221 The MK3, no reason except one came up for sale at a reasonable price. I’d have been just as happy with the MK2.

haha thanks for the comment, I was tempted just to put the jet black image in as a joke, but didn't... the lens now has a hood on it all the time after that 1 mistake!

Not sure what you mean... But it's build out of strong plastic and metal and can shoot either colour or black and white film
