@@tammyruggaber3498 They went to make one but didn't finish it. There's a 15 year box set coming out this year with 5 tracks they recorded for the second record on it.

I really hope that this performance of The Sandman, The Brakeman, and Me will be preserved in history forever, that song is medicine. Also preserve Yim Yames’ voice (all of their voices!!! What instruments) until the end of time!!

I cannot even believe this band EXISTED they're so good! Just discovered them earlier this evening - to find out that that they came and went - and more than decade ago? Grateful they were able to have this brief and blessed time together.

That sucks. I watched this when it first aired on PBS. Yes, so good. As someone else said…they really should have gotten together again and made another album. Hey, better late than never! Keep diggin’ for these hidden gems.

Just glad i found them at all - another 13 years missed would have REALLY been a bummer! With this much talent it’s a wonder the stars aligned even long enough for this one album of songs. I guess for me it’s also the musical and emotional generosity that makes what comes out not just great, but sublime - not an ego in the joint.

Do you have the full episode of Austin City Limits from 1980? Joe Ely performs with special guest Butch Hancock, and Jerry Jeff Walker performs.

I love Jim James so much, but I have to correct him. Will Johnson is “Denton’s own treasure” nevertheless, he’s Texas’s treasure.

Thank you so much for posting this. The live version of Smokin from shootin they played at this concert is my favorite. Someone took it down nearly 10 years ago, I was so heart broken. Hearing it now for the 1st time again in ten years. 🥲
