Wow, you finally visited Japan. I still can't forget the shock of my first visit to Japan. Rich nature and futuristic architecture, ancient history and cutting-edge technology, chaos and order, traditional culture and diverse pop culture... all coexisted in perfect balance. And the people were very friendly and respectful to each other, and they cherished the public places, and the cleanliness was maintained everywhere, whether in the city or in the countryside. In addition, small children ride the subway alone, young women nonchalantly walk alone in the middle of the night, and in cafes, people go to the bathroom with their bags and laptops on their seats as a matter of course. Oh, it goes without saying that the food here tastes great. Just look at the number of stars in the Michelin Guide

new viewer here, I think my recommendations are finally working. A little information about the lack of trash cans in Tokyo. So years ago there was this bombing incident in the city which a guy hid bombs in trash cans around the city and a few people got seriously injured or hurt. So after the incident the Japanese government put a ban on trash cans in the city area. So always carry a small tote/plastic bag for your rubbish. Also an extra tip; Lawson's, Family mart and 7/11 have public rubbish bins in their stores. You know because of "Convenience".

Japanese restrooms are the greatest! They have emergency buttons in all the stalls, at least on the island of Kyushu. Most emergency buttons were red with emergency written in Japanese and English. Once there was a green button that didn’t say emergency so I thought it was the button to flush the toilet. Nope, it was the emergency button! Alarms went off, a guy started calling in Japanese, I’m assuming asking if I was okay but i don’t speak Japanese so just stepped out of the stall & looked at him sheepishly and bowed. I was so embarrassed!

Just to set expectations for anyone looking for T-Shirts in the Nintendo Store (or anywhere in Japan, really), if you're a bigger person it's going to be tough. Nintendo only had up to L and a Japanese L is slightly smaller than a U.S. L. Most places will have very few XL (if any) and nothing bigger. It doesn't hurt to ask, though. Just a recommendation for the next trip, if you’d like: the Shinjuku government tower actually has a free viewing floor (inside) and it is incredible. The last time I went was circa 2014, so it has been a while and I’m not sure what’s changed (I hope it’s still free!), but the lookout floor is huge and has 360 views. The two times I’ve been were a lot less crowded than the Shibuya observation place. We had to go through security and the elevators are small, so there can be a small wait to go to the top, but it’s totally worth it. Especially for free! Also, fun story - when we moved back home to the US, my mom came to visit us in Japan and came home with us when we moved back - she came home to their new puppy that my stepdad had started adopting while she was gone. She named him Hachi(ko) in honor of her trip to Japan. 🥰 p.s. that spaghetti looks like the most normal spaghetti I’ve ever seen from Japan 😂 I’m so excited for the rest of this series! I am really hoping you got to go to Coco (Ichibanya) Curry. If not-next time! Or try in Hawaii, CA, or TX. Okay, at the risk of making this comment into a novel 😅 I think I found y’all a few years ago through the Trackers (or maybe vice versa? My brain is mush), and I looooooved your videos from Hawaii! They were so helpful when I planned my family trip to Oahu. So just wanted to say thanks from a lurker who loves y’all! OMG seeing the pride flags is literally making me cry. Japan has come such a long way - that was very much not a thing when we lived there. I am a huge splatoon fan!!! Anyways, sorry for the play by play comment/novel 😂 best wishes!

If you ever do I’ve been a tour guide on Okinawa for over 20 years, I’d be happy to show you guys around, by the way, just came back from Disney and Universal in California. Your channel helped me plan and gave me a lot of good on-site info. Thank you.
