He has a gentle soul and a kind heart....first video of his I ever watched he shared his pot of chicken stew with his big dog...not just a bite or lick the spoon thing. Gave him his own bowl...even seconds...he also talked to him as if he were a human.....I was hooked!!!

Hey thanks for these videos. The vids are great. Don't worry about your upload schedule lol as soon as you said Pewsnet I already knew how bad a service they are. So no worry there. The point I want to make is during bad times these little things like a candy medicine drop or funnel cakes can go a long way to helping peoples mentally. These little things most don't think about can really help keep people sane and a least give them a better outlook on the food situation. Thanks again

The point about candy and funnel cakes is well-made. It's the same reason I talked to my son about gathering good books and board games and such. He and his wife have four children, ranging in age from 11 to 2 years. In a grid-down situation, when they're not learning about serious things like making fire and such, kids needs things to do to keep them busy, need entertainment. Having something satisfyingly sweet can be a game-changer of a different sort.

I live about the same distance from a small town with only one bar of service at best. Wilson electronics makes a cell phone booster for about $500 that works pretty good. It has an outside antenna that mounts on a pole and an inside amplifier. I can get 2 or 3 bars consistently. Nice video and good looking funnel cake! Thanks!

I love these cooking videos. I've been looking all over the woods behind the house for that sassafras to make the candy with but can't find any. DNR say it's native to Georgia and in this are but only thing I find with the mitten leaves is kudzu and fig trees.
@jackieflynt995

Keep looking. I think of the leaves as more like ghosts....shaped like a head & 2 round arms. Sassafras tea is awesome, too. The plant smells sweet & rich. 🙂

It likes to grow in clumps around here. If you find one there will usually be several within a few feet. It seems to like trashy areas like an old house place or where a barn used to be or where someone has dumped an old load of bricks or something like that. All of the ones on my place are on a hill top for some reason.

They're kind of like the beignets I grew up on. Well, mom called them beignets but later I learned they were basically fry bread. Little flour, sugar, milk and throw it in some hot grease. If you want to pack on calories in the woods, that's the way to go! Happy 4th everybody!

David don't feel bad, i live 20 miles out of town and have the very same issues. I do have better phone service since i got rid of at&t and straight talk. I now use cricket, but i live on the edge of the Internet and Phone service, when the wind blows it takes my Internet with it as well. I live semi off the grid, i still have county Water, because i absolutely hate well water ( been there done that), but i use solar panels and batteries since 2012, and it is working Great for me. I have rechargeable flashlight/lights rechargeable emergency radio i listening every morning to NPR and then it gets put back on the solar Panel. I finally got to a point where I can afford a hundred watt solar panel to charge up my marine deep cycle battery! And since there was a sale on them for ALMOST $ 100.00 less then normal at Northern Tools, i ordered me my first 200w Solar Panel for my battery. I had to let go of my car so now i am forced to stay home, and I don't want to have to pay anyone to carry my battery into Town to get recharged. So hopefully this Solar Panel will charge my deep cycle battery in about 8 hours. I have a 5w, and a 18w Panel but they are only good for little items like my phones and my lights. The way i get to have Internet here inside my shed is to have my phones with all the bangs and whistles hanging up outside and my old phone gets used via Hot Spot, inside. Mosquitoes are really bad out here and i haven't seen any bats around here lately. In the Last few years there were many bats around here. In short, my internet and Phone service comes and goes as well.

Dave; if people are that nit picky, I'm sorry. I have a friend that lives 1 1/2 miles off of US RT 2 in Idaho and about 20 miles from town. He's lucky to have consistent electric power, and land line phone. No cell service at all and he has some sort of satellite internet. So, since you also live out in the country I certainly understand your point. Maybe our president will follow through with universal internet. I will NOT hold my breath waiting. Funnel cakes, a countrified version of home made donuts, YUM ;-)

Have you thought of getting the new starlinks internet, I think it’s called that. It’s the internet that Elon Musk made with satellite. I checked it out and am thinking about it. With all the camping and hiking and backpacking we do as a family. Thought it might be something to look into.
