OH MY GOD YOU SAVED ME. I'm frustrated with the Emboss feature that mess up my sketch line.Not knowing there's a such simple way to do this! Thank you a lot!

great explanation. it helped me a lot. i projected two circles onto a curved surface and try to thicken the surface between in between the circles. Obviously patching didn't work. extruding from the curved surface did work. many many thanks...

Why does your UI look so damn clean? I love how simple it looks compared to what we get out of the box.

The trick is to create a sketch on the cylinder first otherwise you will get an error if you try to project to surface. Thank you for the awesome tutorial.

So wait, I'm supposed to create a sketch on the cylinder to project a sketch on that same cylinder? how do I sketch on a cylinder first? do I create a plane first bisecting the cylinder to then project on that plane? but then this tutorial makes no sense because it doesn't follow what now we're supposed to do, because this tutorial doesn't include that, so WTFFFFFFF!!!!!!
@GeryS.

First you create your profile sketch, finish that sketch. Now you need to create another sketch (wherever you want! Plane does 't matter because it will be a 3d sketch.) and use "Project to surface". Save that sketch too. Thats it. You can't create "project to surface within a sketch that has already defined as a 2d sketch. (Where your profile was created)

Appreciative of the direct approach of your channel. Can you do a video on complex fillets/radii on 3d models , eg lofted/swept shapes produce non planar intersections

I hope I can get an answer on this, but every time I start a new sketch after I extruded a cylinder the sketch finishes in the middle of the object I just extruded. Is the only way to go about it by move the cylinder backwards/forwards?

I do the exact same thing and I keep getting "Projecting sketch geometry onto the same sketch is not supported. Please change either the target sketch or the geometry" WTH...Why is Fusion so ret..ded? is like they hire the most incompetent people to design this software.

Now you can use emboss :)))
@Fusion360School
4 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what effect you are looking for. Emboss should only be used when you need to wrap the sketch entities. In the case of a straight projection, extrude should still be used.
@SlavaChrome

Fusion 360 School sure, sure! It’s absolutely different features. But you right, emboss is more for wrapping sketch around the face.
@adriansue8955

What IS it useful for then?
@Fusion360School
2 жыл бұрын
I have used it in the past for generating a 3D curve for sweeping and performing a pattern on path. But it is also possible to simply use the sketch to create a split line on the face.
