I printed the vase overnight using clay matte and it's gorgeous. Now that I've done it once, I went through the video again and created a text file with all the steps. I love being able to make things on my own without using other people's STL files and dealing with license issues. Thank you again for this excellent tutorial.

Interesting way of doing it. These are cool because there's just so many different ways to do things. I usually just draw out the bottom profile on the XY plane and then extrude a form up from that with 5 or 6 front faces, then switch to front view and select the edges and manipulate the shape to match whatever curvature and twist profile I want. Then, just switch back to solid tools and place a plane at the top of the form and do a boundary fill to create a solid. Makes it very easy to go back and modify by just going back and manipulating the form or the initial sketch profile.

Brilliant. I never could have figured this out on my own. This design was exactly what I was looking for. One thing, Fusion wouldn't let me create cylOD while dimensioning. I had to create the parameter first and then use it.

It's harder than I thought. I thought you just do sketch of the base and then do some spiral extrusion.
@StephenBoyd21

I am just wondering why the workflow needed to be so complex? You could have just drawn the curve on an offset plane and then done a extrude from body. This would mean that you can then easily go back and adjust the curve.

Extrude is always perpendicular to the sketch plane. In my design the rib is aligned to the center of the vase. But you suggestion create some interesting geometry :)

good job but yeah u got extra few steps u could of avoid i think : once u drew the line then project on the vase then just use square pipe cut and arrange
@KristianLaholm
Жыл бұрын
@@randomgeno6490 I can think of 2 problems with a square pipe (or sweep): the profile will twist because the path is in 3D, and the path needs to be extended beyond the vase or it will not cut all the way. Give you workflow a try and please share what you find.
@randomgeno6490

@@KristianLaholm i did and actually yeah .. it wont cut all the way up .. but simply press pull the top and it will be ok secondly there is an option to make the cut perpendicular to the path weather sweep or pipe or arrange so just one solvable problem

I consider myself a beginner after 8 or so other tutorials and a few self guided projects. If you approach this project on day 1 with fusion 360, it will take a couple days of rewinding and retrying. but at my current level, i was able to get through it in a couple hours. I restarted a few times after making obnoxious mistakes i didn't care to undo. this was a great exercise that helped me incorporate many skills into my work flow.
