For those who are having an issue with your boundary fill volume not turning green - make sure the top and bottom planes intersect with your vase. Remember - boundary fill is all about creating a fully enclosed volume. It might look enclosed from a distance, but if you zoom in, there may be a gap. Try using offset planes to slightly raise/lower your construction planes. Hope this helps!

What did the trick for me was to ensure the offset plane was at least 0.01mm from the aligned surface; moving the plane closer to the center of the object.

Great tutorial. Im just getting into fusion 360 having only used tinkercad before, so this really helps. One tip I've found to save print time and material is instead of hollowing out the object, export as a solid shape. Then when slicing (I use cura) slice with 0 top layers and 0% infill. I find 5-8 bottom layers and 5 perimeters is usually enough to make a strong enough vase/pot and saves all that extra material used printing different inner and outer shapes plus the infill.

If there's even a small gap between the plane and the object, then it won't work. I suggest using the to object when making the offset plane, that'll get it exactly on the top. Hoped this helps

For those struggling with boundary fill do this 1. click construct -> offset plane 2. click the bottom plane also called X Y plane 3. in the menu that comes up, click the drop down that currently says "Distance" and change it to "to object" 4. click on a point of the forms surface on the bottom (the tip of the "point" that is twisted works well for this) then click okay 5. repeat steps 1 to 3, but now select a point that's on the TOP of the forms surface and click okay you should now have a construction plane on the top and bottom of the form and you will use those when selecting the boundary fill tools

I know how to fix this (work around) if you cant get it to boundary fill :) Select the bottom plane and create a sketch, from the origin point create a circle, just a bit larger than your design. Finish the sketch. Then extrude just to the top of your design, not past the top. Next, do an Analysis (allows you to see a cut cross section) Then, on the Zed axis create a sketch, and use the spline tool to trace inside the outer border of your design, going to the midline from where you stopped at the bottom and close it off at the top. Go past the top with your sketch, but do not go all of the way to the bottom, leave some room. We're going to make this a cut tool for the interior of the design. Finish the sketch and use the revolve tool, make sure you set it to cut. after you complete that, select the Split tool. Use the cylinder we created earlier and then select the form (vase design) as the cut tool. Make sure you select Extend Splitting Tool(s). This will take a few seconds and then click OK. Thats it. You now have a solid body with your design.

well, thanks for the tutorial but I have no idea how to get past the boundary fill step as my object does not "turn green". Your object seems to be perfectly aligned on the xy plane, and it has an exact height that you can snap to, which seem important to properly create the offset plane that you talk about, but you did not explain that. I was eventually able to get around that by using a different method of creating the planes, namely the "Plane through three points", one at the top and another at the bottom of the pot.

I was stuck here but I figured it out. In the video, he clicks the origin (XY) plane and his construction plane. I was assuming since I made my sketch on the origin XY plane that it was tangent to the edge of my mesh, but it wasn't. So my fix was just to make two offset construction planes, one for the bottom, and one for the top. You don't have to drag to snap these or know the offset height, just create the construction plane, and then click the top of your object (or bottom) and it will snap to it. Then it worked for me.

That is, after each step, I "finish form." If it errors, then I have to redo that step. If it is fine, then I can just press CTRL+Z to bring the form editor back up. However, I can't get to the point of the construction plane. I create the plane, but when I try to click on Select Cell, the damned body and planes disappear! They return if I click on the top option that shows 3 objects selected. Fusion can be a real pain for someone who is not proficient in it!
