I can say that those G body frames were meant to be light and have flex they were ment to be for fuel economy plus most G bodies were underpowered except the grand national but its always great to box those frames especially if ur adding an aggressive drive train to love ur G body vids 👍

Oh wow that really wobbles ..... I have owned my 1985 Buick Regal now for 16 years and it would be a project to do something like this to my car, but well worth it . Dope video my boy 🙏🏼

Great video my man. I have a 85 elcamino pushing 600 hp so I'm picking up what your laying down. Anyone looking to run 400 hp or more better listen up. One small note however, the rear will flex and twist but not as bad as you showed. But that is only because the rear bumper bolts directly to each rail so your rear brace is not needed. As long as your using a steel bumper and not a fiberglass roll pan that is. But the rest was spot on. Keep keeping it real

you can do the same thing with a 83 to 2003 2wd s10 frame standard ( cab ) by chopping off the rear of the s10 frame and welding the rear frame of a gbody to it.. I did this when front frame wasn't available for a 2+ 2 grand prix in the 90s..

Nice work sir. Like seeing levels involved. These frames are very flimsy without the body. Eurathane body mounts help a lot to. Be prepared for more rear-end suspension travel. There's not much clearance back there lol.

😑 I never knew this. Do you have to take the body off to do this?
@Kornball426
6 жыл бұрын
You don't have to, but it would be much easier, even on a lift. If you're doing it just on jack stands make sure you have the frame perfectly level side to side because if it's on a hill or bump and you weld in the braces with the frame twisted from being on a hill it'll stay twisted like that when you weld in the braces, basically ruining your frame unless you cut out all your welds and start over. Also if you do it on a complete car be very careful not to cut or burn the brake or fuel lines while fabricating and welding, and disconnect your battery from the car.

Nice, video wasn't helpful as a how to video (that's not what brought me here), however it is impressive how much stiffer that frame is after not that much work. Was literally just looking at "Schwartz Performance" frame. Not going to to say it's not a nice frame because of course it is, but 11G's for a bare custom frame. Just shows with a little steel, some ingenuity, and a welder you can make something almost as good for just a few hundred bucks and some sweat and muscle. As cool as G bodies are, until they hit that super expensive collector car bullshit in another like 20 years (or hopefully never), I can't see spending 11G's for a bare frame. You could buy a solid roller car, do a complete LSx/4L80e swap, nice interior, wheels, and paint for for 11k let alone just a frame.

Get in there, i love your videos, but stiffening the frame does not always help, if your planing to race in the street you want a sloppier chassy and not so stiff so you can put the power to the ground.
