For some reason I feel like Link will die in this game. With the fact that Ganon is so powerful now and Zelda even saying that she doesn't know if Link can stop him. Maybe there will be multiple endings, but I would kinda like to see Link and Ganon kill each other, then Link speaks to Zelda for the first time, and it ends like that. He does questions his past actions, but i dont think he has changed all that much. He has experience and is wiser with his age and failure, but when Daphnes uses the triforce to destroy hyrule completely he gives up his calm facade. His last actions, knowing Hyrule is now truly beyond his reach and that he has lost is to lash out, a sad and petty attempt at taking the lives of two children that had already been suffering at his hands for quite some time. He doesnt go out with grace or dignity, nor does he repent his actions. He tries to kill two children for daring to be descendants of the people that foiled his previous attempts, because he is now no more than his power. No ambitions, no desires, no love, no want, only blind anger and hatred. He was already becoming a being of malice.

@@Blueroflmao Interesting, I always interpreted it as the opposite. Ganondorf defied the gods, lost, and is now ready to accept his fate. He simply never learned how to give up. He knows he is done for but wants to go out with a bang. Honourably, swords in hands. No words of hatred after his defeat (unlike Twilight Princess), just relief and melancholy. Speaking of which, I have to blame the English translation for making him sound a lot more menacing. His last line before the fight starts actually have him challenging Link and Zelda to prove they are worthy of the Triforce and the "hopeful future" the king wished for. And interestingly enough, he doesn't even try to kill Zelda. He simply knocks her down to prevent her from shooting arrows, as if she was a mere annoyance ruining a fair duel between him and Link.

The more times I hear Ganondorf's dialogue from the latest trailer, the more I find myself wondering if it is dialogue from a flashback to when he originally became Calamity Ganon, and started his pattern of spawning monsters like he does during Blood Moons. I seem to recall a memory in BotW that indicated monsters were appearing more and more frequently in the lead-up to the Great Calamity, which would imply their numbers were always tied to his presence in some way. Perhaps his "Rise my servants" dialogue was his command to the monsters when he initially released his malice and started spawning them, which could even mean that he never intended to take the form of Calamity Ganon, but was forced to after he was sealed by the Zonai, who were trying to prevent him from spawning more monsters. Or maybe I am just worried that the Mummified Ganondorf will look a little silly if he just speaks with a normal voice and am trying to convince myself that won't happen.

The stab wound matches up too well with this Ganondorf in ToTK. This malice is the only source of his hatred left, he is quite too angry to die in which he can't die because the malice is literally keeping him alive. I'll add to this, the spirit Zant neck snap really ties it all together. I've been saying this wasn't Ganondorf since day 1 and I am so happy to see the man himself return. After seeing the neck snap back into place and the chest wound, I immediately jumped to Twilight Princess.

Don't know if anyone has pointed this out, but the Great Deku Tree isn't capable of repairing the Master Sword, the Master Sword does that all on its own in BOTW, what the Great Deku Tree does do is guard the Sword.

You have outdone yourself again with this video Zeltik! Not sure which weapon I think he'll use for a potential final battle, but I hope we get to fight him in this skeleton form - that would be cool! Could also be cool if he was resurrected just so we can see what he looks like in his human form.

if it werent for the parallels between the Great Plateau and Castle Town from Ocarina, my theory would be that it follows the adult timeline, and this is set in the New Hyrule established in Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, with the Zonai being aerial neighbours with the old Hylians of Skyloft only very far apart

I suspect it’s the same Ganondorf from the child timeline and Twilight Princess due to the wound on his chest that we see being covered by the Zonai hand. Although the identical wound could just be a coincidence.

Knowing what we now know about Ganondorf from Tears. This makes both Breath and Tears harder to pinpoint on the timeline. Unless Nintendo was serious about the other games just being legends.

I incline towards two options: 1) He is the Ganon from FSA 2) He is the reincarnation of WW's Ganon (the same as FSA's one is from the one in TP)

The japanese translation of Ganondorf's speech fit very well with an old theory of mine: TP was at first intended (before the birth of the official timeline) as the connection piece between OoT and ALTTP, and that speech reveal the future return of Ganon in the Imprisoning War

I thought it was common sense that Calamity Ganon was never the real Ganon. They made that kind of obvious when you're forced to face Windblight Ganon, Waterblight Ganon, Fireblight Ganon, and Thunderblight Ganon. Calamity is just another one of his manifestations, his ultimate one. What we never knew is that his body was still out there somewhere and posed a threat.

Seems more likely that this would be our first glimpse of the DT Ganondorf, since he’s too different to the other two timeline versions. Also there’s no sword wound on the TotK version, just finger holes.

I feel like it would be so amazing to finally hear the tragic backstory behind the man the myth the legend that is Gannon. Some part of me truly hopes to see him as past friends with the first versions of Link and Zelda, who sacrificed himself to some dark evil to save everyone else, and his desire for power morphed into something dark instead of a force for good.

One of the things I think is significant is that unlike every single other Zelda game: Link in Wind Waker (and the subsequent hero of trains) does not have the spirit of the hero. Which makes sense if you think about it. When the hero of time went back to his childhood, he didn’t leave the hero’s spirit behind. So the adult timeline is actually left without the spirit of the hero. Likely being another explanation as to why a hero never came in the opening scene of Wind waker.

I wonder if Ganondorf’s body lies in his dormant and the sky islands exist in Age of Calamity’s alternate timeline. If so, then will the events in this split reality be much different than Tears of the Kingdom? I do not care if many people think that the spin-off to BOTW is non-canon. But considering how time travel has always been a part of the Legend of Zelda mythology and lore, Nintendo, along with Zelda creators, needs to make a sequel to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Zelda Series Producer Eiiji Aonuma confirms that the spinoff to Breath of the Wild is canon!

here’s a funky idea, what if the malice that scorches links hand leaves more than that physical injury, but some taint is left over? kind of like the lightning scar on harry’s forehead. And much like that scar, it would grant link some access to Ganondorf’s thoughts? gameplay wise, to see out of those ever vigilant eyes of malice. imagine the puzzles that could be created with this! Or perhaps the shear story potential!

Now that we know that there existed a Ganondorf many generations before Ocarina of Time, this makes room for so much fun speculation. For example, what if real history of the first Imprisoning War was kept and passed down by higher ups of the Gerudo? Knowing that Kume and Kotake, Ganondorf's parental figures, were crazy evil witches, maybe they decided to name OOT Ganondorf after the ancient evil, raising him to become just like him. What if this fact doesn't make him a product of Demise's curse, but rather a product of the original Ganondorf's history. So Oot Ganondorf wouldn't be a reincarnation of OG Ganondorf, but rather a "Copycat", having his namesake from him. Maybe that's why TotK Ganondorf resembles Demise so much, while OoT Ganondorf is just a regular Gerudo man. But let's not stop there. What if "Malice" is actually the evil energy of OoT Ganondorf, having an endless strive for reincarnation, and taking on a pig form. While "Gloom" is the actual result of Demise's curse, still within OG Ganondorf's body. You can reay go hog wild with that. And I don't even think the first one is that unlikely.

The cave Ganondorf is in is filled with luminous stone. It could be powering his seal, or if the theory that he is a lych is right, then it could be powering him up to an extent. He might attack Zora's domain in either case and maybe even use it as his base of operations since it is made of the stone

Thank you Zeltik. The history of Ganondorf as it pertains to BOTW/TOTK is one of my favorite topics to discuss. HISTORY OF GANON'S MALICE: Ganon's history of becoming Malice can be traced all the way back to A Link to the Past. In the Downfall Timeline, Ganon is sealed away in the Sacred Realm, and could not return to Hyrule. Many years later, rival groups invaded the Sacred Realm, but none returned. Instead, Ganon's Malice flowed out of the Sacred realm and into Hyrule. The Seven Sages were told to seal the source of this Malice, which was the entrance to the Sacred Realm. As stated in the Japanese manual for A Link to the Past: しかし、このハイラルの地にもガノンの邪気は押し寄せてきました。 However, Ganon's Malice flowed into this land of Hyrule. Here, the term 邪気 (Jaki) can be translated as "Malice". 邪 (Ja) meaning "evil" or "malicious", and 気 (Ki) meaning "essence" or "spirit" Like a cloud of darkness that spreads. This is 100% the basis for the Calamity Ganon. There are hints to Ganon's Malice in -A Link to the Past (Jaki = Malice): -The Wind Waker ("fell wind" /"calamitous storm" in Japan, in TWW Intro), -Four Swords Adventures, (Jaki = evil vessel = The Trident), -Twilight Princess (Grudge/Malice, Ganondorf's spirit head) In EVERY instance, Ganondorf becomes Malice to resurrect into Hyrule: -ALTTP: Becomes Malice to escape the Sacred Realm and revive in Hyrule -TWW Intro: Presumably becomes the "Calamitous storm" to escape the Sacred Realm and revive in Hyrule -FSA: The Trident/evil vessel, houses an evil spirit. Called the "Ancient Demon Reborn", the Ganondorf in this game uses the Trident to become Ganon. -TP: Housed within Zant. The Anguish of the Twili "nourished (Ganondorfs) flesh and blood," essentially creating a new body for him. -BOTW: Calamity Ganon tries to form a new body within the cocoon inside Hyrule Castle. This is the history of Ganon's resurrections. He becomes Malice to shed his old, sealed body, and create a new one.
