We are full swing into the 4.8 LS vs. 8.1 Gen VII big block shootout, and we will eventually wind up cramming a ton of air into this baby LS with a power adder of some sort. Because I pulled the 4.8 out of the stepside silverado to re-seal everything, it only makes sense to clean the insides of the engine at the same time, and address the ring gap to help the 4.8 run better under boost. Setting the proper ring gap is important: if you run it too tight, there's a good chance the ends of the rings will touch, and when that happens, carnage ensues. If you run the gap too large, its not as big of a deal, but your performance can suffer and you might have extra crankcase pressure and blow-by. The proper gap is important, and thats what we're going to do today!
