Garbine's attitude is phenomenal. She definitely has the attitude of a future winner. Her crying at the end of the match shows that she's hungry for more than just making it to a GS final. She wants to WIN them. With how cute she is with such a great personality I see her mainstream marketing rising tremendously after this great Wimbledon run. Congrats on fighting until the end.

What a doll. I love Serena so much but Garbine is winning me over in a big way. I love her style of play, her attitude, her comportment on and off the court. She is so charming. Desperately hope that she can build off of this and we will see so much more success from her in the not-too-distant future. I love her. English is excellent.

I really enjoy watching Gabine speak, she speaks freely and it's refreshing to see. All the other top players try to act tough and very serious but she's relaxed, charming and honest. She's clearly got talent but Serena has been no.1 for years for a very good reason.

She really has it all in my opinion. At 21 years old, she is mixing it with the very best, has leaped into the top 10, has the game to test pretty much anyone and you can see in how she speaks, she openly admits how much she is learning. Her laid back, down to earth mindset can only enhance her already very bright prospects. For sure she gained a lot of new fans these last 2 weeks and for me, she is a future world number 1 in the making.

Garbine is definitely a breath of fresh air and a power player (taking tips from one of her idols she played in the finals). Unlike that Canadian (the blonde who doesn't like to shake hands before a match), Garbine is going to be a regular member of the top 10 (more likely the top 5) for some time.

This interview is so different from what I see with top players esp after losing to Serena. Garbine expresses her feelings straight out - nervous playing a 5 x Wimbledon champ etc - then continue to praise Serena for her agility and skill on court - not may praise Serena as much - I really hope Garbine go on to win if not Wimbledon, any Grand Slam - she proved she can reach a G/Slam finals next time around! Best of luck Garbine!!

yea exactly. Serena played her B- game today. The only big game in this tournament where she put her A game on was against azarenka. But she doesn't even need her A game to win the majority of her matches, her C game is usually enough to get her by. That should tell you just how dominant she is.

I really like the way players like Muguruza and Azarenka conduct their interviews, especially after losses. They just put it out there so honestly without any angst or bitterness. Even when they are saying the same words as players like Williams, Sharapova, and Bouchard, they are so detached and objective toward the loss and what happened on the court. Idk what it is, but they appear so much more comfortable in their own skin. Maybe it's laughter, but when other players like Sharapova or Bouchard talk about a loss they seem so insecure about themselves.

200damary I don't doubt that Serena is in the running to be the goat (as long as she matches Steffi's 22 GS). HOWEVER, back in the day of early 20's Serena did not know how to give others respect when they played well. Yes all athletes should think that they could have played better, but it still doesn't mean that you shouldn't give others respect if they played well in beating you.
@200damary

YoursTruly Steffi only have 22 because we didn't see full prime Seles, Serena is the goat
@ObsessedPersonality
9 жыл бұрын
200damary Steffi only has 22 because she had to deal with Navratilova, Sanchez Vicario, and Sabatini. If Seles had come back and had been winning as many as she did before the stabbing, and was short because of the slams she missed from 93-95 maybe the "prime Seles" argument could be considered. Graf dominated her on Grass even before the stabbing. Seles only missed 3 GS in 93, and 4 in 94 before she returned for AO in 95. Even if she had won all 7 of those grand slams and had beat Graf in the final, she'd still only be at 16 grand slams and Steffi would still be ahead of her at 18 grand slams. Also, look at Graf's GS record from 87-96, she was consistently either winning the GS, or were at least in the QF, SF, F. It's more impressive than Federer's 04-07 dominance. Serena is good, but she's all over the place. If she can win this year's USO she may be arguable the GOAT. But Serena never had the utter dominance that Graf had in 87-96.

Well, being in the finals means she has a chance. Of course, Serena is a champion, probably the best female player to ever pick up a racquet. But Gabine played well today and she had her chances. The problem is, Serena will not give you too many windows for victory. Serena played like a champ and deserved to win. Gabi lacks expirience in big matches, but I am sure she is gonna win GS title in near future. Also she is so likeable, has charisma and I became a fan pretty quickly.

"A LEGEND"!!! Muguruza actually uttered the word bigots are incandescent with envy; being associated with a black girl in a traditionally white sport, a legend of Tennis!. If Narvatilova can be in a Wimbledon final at the age of 37, against Conchita, i bet Serena will at least match that, so i expect Serena to win at least 25 GS at the minimum! Weep you bigots!!
@liamg5314

She's a great kid and has major game. If she improves her serve, especially her 2nd serve, she will win some majors. As for Serena? We're talking about the greatest female tennis player of all-time. It's not even about the number of grand-slams although I expect her to surpass Margaret Court. You have to remember that Seles was stabbed as she was beginning to dominate Graf. The women's game may have fewer great players at the very top but it is much deeper at the bottom. What separates Serena from everyone else is 1) Her Serve and 2) Her athleticism/movement. There have been big hitters before like Davenport and Seles but they are like statues. Serena's ability to blow people off the court with her serve is unlike any player in the history of the game, and when you combine that with her court coverage and power it's a very dangerous combination. This woman is 33 and destroying people in a sport where youth is usually king. Martina and Graf just are not in the same class despite their greatness, that serve is quite simply the MOAB of women's tennis.

Liam G Disagree. She´s got a great serve and in the finals (under a lot of pressure) she only commited two DF versus eight DF from Serena. In my opinion, when Garbiñe was 4-2 and 0-30 on Serena´s serve, she suddenly realized where she was. Losing that game was a key point.
@anthonybailey8317

lmestanza Her second service is weak. She only won 36^of the points on hjers econd serve, If Garbine does not improve that, she will not win majors.
@KillSanchezVol.1
9 жыл бұрын
Anthony Bailey Garbiñe she won 33% of second serve points and Serena she won 35% so, are they both weak? Is Serena's second serve weak? Playing against Serena every second serve seems weak. That´s the big deal. Garbiñe she can win every GS against another player. Serena is not forever and Garbiñe is still growing as a player and she is 12 years younger.
