Glad you liked it. I'll be covering it more in the future and I have new videos coming out every day, on new devices and then comparing them to each other. Rick

Buen día. Quisiera saber cuál es el rango de precisión que maneja el equipo a la altura. Mi etrex 30x estaba en 2 o 3 metros de precisión.
@outdooremergencytech

English Translation: Good day. I would like to know what is the precision range that the equipment handles at altitude. My etrex 30x was at 2 or 3 meter accuracy. Honestly, I don't believe altitude affects the accuracy, at least not that most people would ever notice. My experience testing the Garmin devices is that you'll get somewhere between 7 meters to 15 meters accuracy. You may get better at times, depending on how many satellites the device sees, but I always error on the side of 10 to 15 meters accuracy when making any kind of claims. If you want more information than that, I would call Garmin. I hope that helps. Rick

Great job men. Is it possible to change the information formst to Knots, feets, nautical miles? For use in paragliding. Thank you so much.

Absolutely. I took a little more time to research and and answer this question so I could give you better information. In SETTINGS, then SYSTEM, and UNITS, you can make the following changes. SPEED/DISTAND: Statute Miles, Kilometers, Yards, Nautical (nm, ft.), Nautical (nm, m). WIND SPEED: mph, kph, kt, m/s TEMPERATURE: Fahrenheit, Celsius VERTICAL SPEED: feet/min., feet/hour, meters/min., meters/sec., meter/hr. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Rick

Hi Rik, I have one since already 1 week. Tested out concerning back tracking with saved waypoints as well as average waypoints. The results are very disappointing. Indicates differences between 30 and 80 meters. My 10 years old Bushnell back tracker is much more accurate except the connection with the satellites which is a pain in the neck.

Thank you for letting me know. It's good for people to see our results here. I have tested multiple devices out and you're right, that some of them seem to have accuracies on the order or 50 to 100 feet away, but most of the ones I use seem to be with 20 to 50 feet. I primarily use the Garmin GPSMAP 67i and the Garmin inReach Mini 2. Thanks again for leaving the comment. Rick

Hi Rick, I really enjoy your videos! Question: I have an etrex SE and find it great for navigation, especially if paired with the Explorer App. How does the Mini 2's navigation compare with that of the etrex SE? I'm trying to decide between the Mini 2 and the Messenger. [I already have an Explorer+, but find Earthmate not that great and think the Messenger App will be much better/easier for my contacts to use]. I also have a Fenix 5+. Thanks.

Thank you for the thumbs up. The Mini 2 has fairly good navigation by itself and you can see a video of that here. kzitem.info/news/bejne/kp6Q2IuDi5ZqlHY I also have another video of creating a course with the Mini 2 on the Explore App and you can watch that here. kzitem.info/news/bejne/yGiZz2yqe5GBZ6g I like the inReach Messenger a lot, but the Mini 2 and the GPSMAP 67i can use the Messenger App, which give both devices some of the same power in communication that the inReach Messenger has. Personally, I would only get the inReach Messenger if I already had a good way to navigate. If I wanted both a good navigator and communicator, I would look at the inReach Mini 2 and the GPSMAP 67i. Let me know if you have any other questions. Rick

High Sir. I'm french and speak english a little bit. I had precedent same GARMIN E TREX a few years ago. For this new one, may you confirm me that possibility : first, can I put a "point" on my walking depature ; then going away for a long time and many kilometers. Of course, because of I'm often lost, GARMIN Boussole GPS shows me the "cap" / "direction" of my point "walking depature" ? (not necessary the way, but simply the "cap" of my point's depature"). Thank you Sir, and sorry for my poor english language.

No need to apologize for your English. I am the same way with French. Let me do some checking on my eTrex today and test this out. I'll get back with you on a formal answer later today or tomorrow. Rick

Is the ETrek kinda redundant if you have a Mini2?
@outdooremergencytech
Ай бұрын
Yes. For me it's un-necessary. I had several people asking me about it so I did go ahead and review it but I won't be reviewing things like that again because my channel is about emergency communication, not navigation. It's nice if you have navigation with a satellite communicator, but my focus is on getting help in a life threatening emergency. Rick

I absolutely agree. It's hard to go wrong on the Mini 2. The Mini 2 and the GPSMAP 67i are my two favorite satellite communicators. Rick
