A WHITHER SHADE OF PALE originally was released as Procol Harum's first single in 1967.
Eberhard Schoener (who had toured with Procol Harum, his Munich Chamber Opera Orchestra and the Toelzer Boys Choir in Germany, Austria and Switzerland 1972) invited Gary for his first CLASSICAL ROCK NIGHT in Munich. The mammooth concert was transmitted on TV in 16 countries, full length, six hours. Other guests were Mike Batt, Esther Ofarim, Andy Mackay, Mel Collins, Jon Anderson, Darryl Way.
Gary's musical portions of this concert were not performed in one block. When he reappeared on stage late in the evening to sing AWSOP, he suddenly wore a suit.
This caused some hilarity in the audience.
There has never been a retransmission of this event and private VHS recorders at that time were rare! So this may be the only surviving tape
of that very night !!
(thank you Fritz for providing this ultra rare material)
