This video shows how the build-up of organic sediment at the bottom of a pond generates and traps gases, which are released when disturbed. Methane is produced when there's not enough oxygen in the water to break down the sediments. Adding oxygen is one way of preventing methane, and adding BioHaven floating islands as well gives the microbes that "eat" methane a chance to proliferate.
