As a very young kid, the game Green Ghosts was the one that made me think how cool board games are, but as I got older Atari and video games came into being and led me away from board games. It wasn't until I had kids of my own that I began thinking about board games again. I bought Ghost Fighting Treasure Hunters as a Christmas gift for them and fell in love with it too. Then I bought Splendor for myself to play with my spouse and extended adult family members. That was it, I was hooked and now, here we are 6 years later and 200+ in my collection. 😁

Risk led me to Conquest of the Empire, which my Dad's friend had when I was a kid. I mainly stuck to similar types of games for a while: Axis & Allies, Shogun, Fortress America. At some point I quit gaming for a number of years. I think Disney Villainous, which I got as a gift for Christmas when it came out, renewed my interest and I started buying games again. Catan and Carcassone, Ticket to Ride, Pandemic, stuff like that which are often considered as great gateway games got me back 100% into the hobby.

I remember that I was looking for a game to play with the kids and happened upon King of Tokyo and thought it looked cool. So I got that as a Christmas gift and we were all hooked. This led me to being a volunteer for IELLO at Origins and I was hooked from there. Prior to this, though, I believe we did have Dominion and Ticket to Ride so I credit those 3 games the most.
