Another awesome video. You are making great local content. Any thoughts on land based fishing around Brisbane where you have a chance of a decent fish?
@martytuckerfishing
Жыл бұрын
Yeah mate land based I’d probably use live bait. I’ve seen people catch threadfin along the piers at kangaroo point. Apparently they get some good jew and threadfin from the docs around Hamilton as well. With that sort of thing mate google maps or google earth is your friend.

Congratulations Marty, that’s a brilliant session, a real arm stretcher, and you’ve put together a great video. I’ve never fished that area. It looks like it’s a bit shallower that along the wharves. We’re you anchored, spot locked or drifting?

@martytuckerfishing

Hi mate, small as I can buy in 3/4oz for squire which I think is 4/0 or 5/0. But if your using lighter gear say 10/15lb you’ll get away with 1/2oz in that current and hold bottom just fine especially if your drifting. 1/2oz you can get in 3/0 and use smaller plastics if the bite is tough,

How good to see healthy stocks breeding up since the regulations have started to work. Before the gateway & port of Brisbane went in, i used to catch over 40cm whiting from there to fisherman's island. I'm skeptical about the ever increasing volume of chemicals in the river now days but its great to see them.

That’s really interesting. I’ve only been fishing the river for the last 5 years or so from kayak and now boat and I’ve found it’s a funny place with certain species. Some years there’s heaps of flathead in the system and some years there’s a lot less and that seems to be the case with many of species there. Interesting you say whiting because I’ve never actually caught a sand whiting in the river, I only lure fish which doesn’t help that but else where I still get the odd one.

That's mind blowing Marty. A mate and I have caught a few at the port but never fished the bridge area. It seems unusual to have such a session. Do you think the area is particularly attractive to the snaps and holds them naturally or was it just one of those days. Whatever, you'll remember that session for a while I'd reckon. Well done.

Great video mate, but I can’t help being a little miffed that this sort of exposure will end up with 4000 tinnies there every weekend. I know this comment will be unfavourable to most, but I don’t think the exact ‘how to’ videos of specific spots is all that positive. Anyway, tight lines.
@martytuckerfishing
Жыл бұрын
Hey mate, I see what your saying and in most cases yeah is 100% spot on. The Gateway however, is one of those places that just about everyone already knows about and is a favourite for the weekend fisherman. If ya google snapper fishing in the Brisbane river and so on you’ll find it mentioned in fishing monthly as one the first places to look. That was by no means a normal session there, it seldom fishes that well but still often produces. But yeah long story short that vid doesn’t really share much that most people didn’t already know. However, in other places that aren’t so well known and already fished heavily, what your saying is true. I’ve fished the gateway numerous times since (Including on the weekends) and haven’t really noticed an increase in numbers.
