I have to say that I followed your KZitem video on the Husqvarna self-propelled lawn Mower to the tee. You are an excellent small engine repair person. I did everything you recommended and followed your video. I could not start my lawnmower for various reasons. I must’ve pulled that cord over 100 times. I even tried carburetor cleaner spraying from the outside and it would only start for two or three seconds. After I completed your overhaul, the engine started on the first pull. I have to give you five stars on this video.

That was a nasty one! I think your practice of putting a little WD40 on your gaskets, etc. is a good one. We always used a little film of oil on those paper or fibre type gaskets in refrigeration work to help them seal better. I will definitely work on making up those 4" long M6 rods for future use as well. Good idea! I also bought some magnetic spark plug sockets after seeing one of your videos as well. Your videos are always very clear and concise. The information is delivered in a very professional manner! Lots of helpful tips!

I use air to mildly pressure tanks to drain. TIP Add a bit of alcohol to the tank to reduce time to dry. Pino Grigio bottles. We have a few of them around here. You are a prof? You could be !!! Pine sol in my Ultra sonic is a great idea. You use the separated system. I dunk my carbs into a full tank of whatever I think s the best. Guitar string brilliant. JIS screwdriver. I as well as you gap every plug as they can be dropped. I knew it would run!! Brilliant video.

Very nice clean up job. I usually add a dab of dielectric grease to the spark plug boot is all you could add to your regimen. Was the blade off on the last mow? I usually leave them on the side for an extended period of time, while doing other maintenance, I think more oil drains out. There is some amount of residual oil that stays in the crankcase. The first oil fill was a good 16-18oz. As long as the level on the dip stick is in within the safe range, you should be good to go. Thanks for watching.

Using the M6 x 1.00 threaded rods to maintain alignment of the parts and gaskets is genius! Well done. Possibly, I have a tip that you might find useful. Before you unscrew the main jet, insert a piece of wire (I use a straightened paper clip) into the hole in the side of the main jet housing. (I have also used a plastic toothpick to do this also works well.) Keeping slight pressure on the jet with this wire and prying upwards as the jet loosens from its threads as you unscrew the jet will make it much easier to remove the jet. No tapping or pounding will be necessary. Thanks for the video. 👍👍

Oh no! Definitely check under the deck to make sure that belt is not jammed up. Could be a seized drive pulley, or some obstruction, twig, branch, pinecone, etc., stopping the belt. You should be able to pull on the belt easily, and see the wheels turning. Lift the drive wheels off the ground, pull the spark plug and see if everything turns easily. Hope this helps. Your videos are great. You break it down with thorough explanation/demonstration. Any chance you have a part # for that gasket between the air box and the carburetor itself? I didn't realize it would be so fragile and it sort of broke/tore in half. I think maybe I shouldn't have sprayed it with carb cleaner and tried to wipe it.
@TheLawnmowerLady
5 ай бұрын
Yep, that carb spray is pretty harsh. I'm a little reluctant to give you a part number. Therevare numerous iterations over the years. The best resource for you is to look up the engine model # (not the mower model #... Unless it's a Honda branded mower, then you do look the mower #... Confusing, I know, sorry). Put that model number on to most any major parts house: partstree, jackssmallengines, repairclinic, etc., to get the exact one you need. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Would Awesome be ok for cleaning solution. And instead of glass, could I use a plastic jar for the pieces?

I have tried Awesome, but as I recall it turned carbs dark, dark grey. Not a functional problem, but just cosmetic. I actually use a boatload of Talenti Gelato (plastic) jars. Thanks for watching.

I'm trying to find a replacement carb for this lawnmower with no luck, none of the replacements I've seen on ebay have the same large black part on top that controls the choke or front flapper,they are all smaller and have holes for linkage that this model doesn't have. Am I suppose to remove the original and put it on the new carb?thanks

That's always an option, but I would suggest just buying an OEM carb if you are in North America. The original carbs are very reasonably priced, in the 30-40$ range, almost as inexpensive as a cheap ebay knock off. That said, if you are in the UK, the OEM carbs are crazy expensive. The ebay knock offs are pretty hit, and miss for many folks. Thanks for watching.

I’ve been surprised how many old push mower have been brought in to be repaired this year that’s been setting up for years

Some folks bring me 2 or 3 mowers that they have had "for years" rather than taking them to the dump. Even if they are too beat up to fix, they make great parts machines

Lawn mower lady how should fuel lines be changed? Is it true ethanol ruins them over time?
@TheLawnmowerLady
2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely ethanol will degrade rubber over time. I've seen some Hondas with a double wall fuel line in which the internal wall completely collapses. I don't see any reason to replace the fuel lines unless they are cracked or too brittle to go back on the fuel barb without leaking.

Thanks for your kind words. I've been swamped these last few months, and do have many videos in the can. It takes a good bit of time to edit out all the unnecessary parts. I don't want to release videos just for the sake of putting out content, but rather put out well edited video. It's easy to run on off topic, and honestly my videos need a lot of editing, LOL.

Good video. Curious if you use any fuel additives to burn the junk out of the cylinders?

Thanks! About the only thing that I honestly think makes a difference, is a foaming intake spray cleaner by Amsoil. It's made to dump the entire can into a car intake. I only use enough shots to change the color of the exhaust from black to white smoke on small engines. As a result, I end up with cans that run out of propellant before I run out of the solution. Liquid SeaFoam is not effective IMO, but I haven't tried their foaming spray either. I appreciate you watching! Cheers!
