Virus has very few genes, without using bacterial genes, it is unable to produce those proteins required to break or burst the host genome. So, first it manipulates the host and then destroy it

Yes. The bacterial or any host cell surface has some types of proteins known as cellular receptors or attachment factors. It works like a lock-key mechanism i-e specific type of virus binds to it's specific protein.
