This may be the last video Geoff and Vicki made together. While I am sad to hear about their split - their on-screen chemistry makes it hard to believe - but none of us know what goes on when the cameras are off and dealing with life's stresses. Hopefully they both find their own way and hang on to the good times. It can be such a difficult and personal experience, especially when it is (somewhat) in the public eye as they are; my heart goes out to both of them. Thank you for all of the content you made as a team.

The new trains have a major failing IMO - the seats are NOT extremely comfortable if you like to snooze through long-distance train journeys. They force you to sit more upright than on the previous trains, meaning it's MUCH harder to find a comfortable position to sleep. Just another degree or two of incline to the seat backs would have made a huge amount of difference.

This is the best sort of advert for Greater Anglia to make. However, not having Geoff go into the toilet, to show what the internal experience was like, and not having him do his "can I put my elbow on the window ledge" thing gives a slight impression that Greater Anglia might have said "please don't talk about this stuff". So just the same as any other train then. Blinds are an annoyance anyway. What happens if you've got two people sitting by the same window, and one wants the blind down, and the other wants it up?

@@Bungle2010 Blinds are standard on most intercity trains in the world. I think you are thinking of commuter trains, which do not, as the trips are short. And I think sitting in the sun for 4 hours straight is a little worse than some dispute with the other passenger in your row.

Surprised it was an intercity not Stansted Express as these seem to be on the line more than the new IC's

Stadler really know how to build trains! These are as good as the Traversos that Stadler has supplied to the SOB in Switzerland. Shame Northern Rail were 'tight' and bought CAF Civity's which are almost as bad as the Pacers they replaced. Give me a 'Flirt' (pronounced Fleert) any time.

nowhere for a bike on northern rail (folding adult kick scooter in my case) have to balance it between my legs at the doorway. seats are more packed in than the pacers. at least the ride is smoother than the coach frame of the pacers.

I would imagine that Northern Rail were given a set budget by DfT and so were restricted to go with CAF.

Let’s be clear in every other country this design of train is used they are nothing more than a commuter train. To pass them off as an excuse for an intercity design in terms of comfort and experience….really?

I've travelled on these trains since early 2020, and they do bring a lovely, comfortable and enjoyable ride. The only suggestion for improvement would be the weather in the display - if they could show live weather at the next station or major city (such as Cambridge weather on a train to Stansted Airport from Norwich), it'd help a lot!
