Oh! One other thing. Sidney Moncrief was a first-team all-defensive team in 1982, 1983, and 1985. That's who Gervin served 50 on.

Gervin had such control. He has to be the most casual and smooth scorer ever. You always sensed he was a second ahead of everyone else. That finger roll is definitely the coolest shot. Wilt was the father of the finger roll, but Ice was soooo smooth. Thanks 70s Fan. Nice memories.

Being a huge Brian Winters fan, I remember watching this one as a kid. It was on locally in Milwaukee that night. It has been on my holy grail list. Winters and Gervin went back and forth all night. It sucks that this is all that’s out there. Gervin had the 50 without taking a three. Winters had 42 coming off the bench. What a game.

Winters, shots from deep.....very deep Winters game reminds alot of Rick Barry, he could really shoot ball.

He had 50 and I think he shot and made one 3pts shot. I don't think I've ever seen him sweat. Right hand hook, left hand hook, right side, left side post up, right hand, left handed finger rolls. He was unstoppable. The only player who used to give him trouble was Maurice Cheeks. Cheeks always had a knack of stripping the ball from people as they were bringing the ball up to shoot. Sometimes it was a foul, sometimes not, but he did it so much that the refs gave him the benefit of a doubt. Ice would still get his 25-30-35 against him but it was a battle. At first I was like why do they have Cheeks on him. Cheeks what, 6'2"-6'3", Ice was 6'7"-6'8". Cheeks knew if Ice got the ball 🏀 over his head it was all over, so he would try and sometimes successfully at strip Ice of the ball on the way up. When he missed it was all over. 2 off the glass, finger roll in the lane , jumper from the top of the key, right hand, left hook in the lane. If you fouled him he's a 85 percent foul shooter, so.... He was cold as ice . He rarely showed emotion. He would high five you on the way to the bench, but that was about it. Ice didn't take a lot of 3's, but when he did,it was butter. He knew his range.15-20 ft he was deadly. I wonder what his 3pt percentage was I got to look it up. I don't think he took a lot of 3's in the ABA. To me he's the best at putting it the ball 🏀 in the basket ever. If you haven't seen him play you're miss poetry in motion. Highlights don't do him justice. FACTS

Cheeks was a pest but not significant enough to even mention in terms of stopping Ice. Ice and the Spurs plowed right thru Dr. J, Cheeks and the 76ers in 79'. Gervin led the Spurs. Everybody got a chance on Ice and none could stop him. Not even the great Bobby Jones.
