Geraldine Brooks is one of two winners for fiction from the 88th Annual Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards. While Brooks' novel, “Horse," is a work of fiction, it's based around the very real story of one of the most dominant racehorses in the history of the sport and the enslaved Black people most responsible for the horse’s success.
This program is hosted by the acclaimed scholar, lecturer, social critic, writer and editor Henry Louis Gates, Jr, Chairman of the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards jury, and host of the popular PBS show Finding Your Roots.
