My rendition of Ozzy Osbourne's "Ghost Behind My Eyes", 3rd track from the 'Ozzmosis' album...an interesting and massively-underrated Ozzy tune in my opinion, I was inspired to learn this around the time I did, well, the previous track of that very same album ("I Just Want You", earlier this year), since it utilizes a lot of similar effects...and as such, I had the same issues as with "I Just Want You" - I had to keep the clean tone a bit lower in volume so the recording audio wouldn't buzz/clip...which is kind of a bummer because the lower volume makes my fret squeaks during that main clean riff stand out more hahaha, but hopefully that's not too annoying (I'm most likely just crying over spilled milk when it comes to that), and hey, it just goes to further reinforce that I do all of these raw/straight-up/no fancy editing. For that main clean riff, it's actually 2 separate parts/guitars on the album, but I did a sort of 'composite' of both and did it in a way so that it was easy for me to remember and keep track of. For the solo (2:50), ideally I would have used a slide, but I had a bit of a logistical issue in terms of putting it on and taking it off mid-playing, so I just gave the tone a bunch of chorus effect to make it 'wobbly' and it was a pretty effective substitute (if only all Zakk Wylde solos were that easy and stress-free...or maybe 'slide guitar without the slide' is just my kind of thing? hahaha), might be a tad bit louder than I intended, but I wanted it to jump out more vs. the regular distortion, and well, it does. The way that last chorus and ending sequence goes (3:55 onward) actually confused me quite a bit in the learning and practicing process, I had a hard time remembering how it all went initially, so I made absolutely sure to get it down before ever attempting a recording. But anyway, that's about it, enjoy the conveniently timed 'Halloween treat' and thanks for watching!
