Hi. This is a private site and the Giant hogweed covers an 11 hectare area. Bio-security and health and safety are very important to us. Areas were cordoned off, signs put up prior to work starting, machinery hosed down to prevent sap and seed spread. The site has been chemically treated for three years now and Gh coverage has been dramatically decreased. There is no lawn, only Giant hogweed and we certainly wouldn't use scythes especially not on an 11 hectare site. Thank for your comments though.

Wow....11 hectares worth. I understand that this plant is also a problem in New York state.

I couldnt go in without a hazmat suit, goggles and breathing tank. This stuff is 10x worse than pepper spray.

Removal? Or spreading?

Removal : contrary to Japanese Knotweed, Giant hogweed is very very easy to remove. You just have to cut it before she makes seeds, et voilà.

U actually shouldn't do that because you are actually spreading the toxic sap all over the lawn also yay first comment!

I have a feeling this field will be sprayed or burnt after this cutting. With this many plants so close to each other hack and squirt is probably too time consuming and hazardous.
