The Wellbeing Services Counties have take responsibility for arranging health-care and social services, which used to be the responsibility of the municipalities, including also cities, everywhere else except in Helsinki. Helsinki is a kind of Wellbeing Service County by itself. Neuvola services are part of the national healthcare system. There also private services but also associations providing help for some specific problems like mental problems during and after pregnancy.

What about women who are in Finland on spouse visa?
@travexplorefinland

Is your question regarding benefits available to them? It depends on which type of visa they are on.

What is TRC? The benefits you get from the government depends upon the type of residence permit you have.

Hi there, We're feeling quite worried and uncertain right now, and I was hoping you could offer some guidance regarding my wife's pregnancy. She's recently been accepted into a Master's program at Tampere University, and will have a type A resident permit but here's the issue: she's currently 10 weeks pregnant. When classes begin in August, she'll be about 7-8 months along, with her due date in October. We're wondering if Kela will provide any support given this situation. We've heard from someone that Kela might not support her because she'll only arrive in Finland halfway through her pregnancy and might have to cover all expenses herself. Could you please advise us on what to do? We'd greatly appreciate any assistance or information you can offer. Thank you.

Hi, I understand your concerns. Your eligibility to Kela benefits depends on your situation - which country's resident are you presently? What is the duration of your wife's studies? Do you have a job in Finland already? How soon can you relocate to Finland? Are you sure she is getting 'A' type residence permit or 'B' type? Then you will get the same permit based on family ties if you don't have a job in Finland already. After reaching here you both need to register with DVV (population register) but you will be assigned a municipality of residence only if her study duration is long, to be considered for a permanent stay. When you get your SSN from DVV, only then you can register with Kela and seek benefits. Keep in mind that authorities work slow here and it can take upto 2 months for you to get these sorted. So it's better to reach here earlier than August. Again, for applying parental benefits, you need to apply atleast 2 months before delivery date. All this will take time.

@@travexplorefinland Your kindness hasn't gone unnoticed. Thank you for being there when I needed help. I am from Pakistan, yeah for my Master I will have a Type A permit for sure and it's a 2 year program. I cannot move to Finland before August because usually, resident permits start in August.

Your welcome! Ok. There are different rules for EU residents who relocate to Finland. Type A should provide you with benefits but read through Kela website for up to date information. Good luck!

Pls reply, will the newly born baby of indian student in Finland get Finland citizenship or a PR or the baby will remain citizen as the parents.
@travexplorefinland

Hi, new born will have the same citizenship as the parents. But first you need to apply for baby's Indian passport and if one of the parents has Finnish citizenship then you can apply the same for baby.

Does Neuvola also support pre conception counselling? Is it free of cost ?
@travexplorefinland
4 ай бұрын
No, unfortunately. One needs to contact Neuvola only when the pregnancy is confirmed. There are private options for that for example Mehiläinen, in that case, Kela might be able to refund the cost partly depending upon your eligibility. Other way is, if the lady is working then occupational healthcare can recommend to a gynaecologist, the first appointment with such a specialist is free for some companies.
