In the US military trials the Glock failed the very first test which was a simple dust test. Beretta became the standard issue. Do the math.

I have a Gen5 Glock 17. Went shooting yesterday with a friend who had a 92FS. I’d never shot a Beretta before. I gotta say, The trigger pull was so smooth and the recoil was so light in the Beretta 92FS, after shooting the Glock 17, the Beretta felt like shooting a .22.

Just got my Beretta 92FS yesterday. Traded my Glock 17 for it. I had the same Beretta before, and like it more than the Glock 17. The Double/Single action is why I did it plus the safety with the de-cocker. Also trade my Glock 22 for the Beretta Px4 Storm.40 S&W for the same reasons. I won’t however get rid of my Glock 21SF! I’ve added plus 2 magazine base plates to it, and it holds 15 rounds instead of 13. I’m not a rich man but wish I had the extra money to have bought both Beretta’s instead of trading as they are both excellent pistols!

My G19 actually got run over by a truck after I got shot in the upper shoulder, I managed to pick up the gun and it worked fine. I've yet to have any issues with either gun. I trust my life with both and they have served me well. Buy whatever you prefer and learn to shoot it.

It's even easier than he made it look. See how he holds the slide while taking out the recoil spring and guiderod and then the barrel. While holding the Beretta in your right hand (finger off the trigger obviously ) grab the slide exactly like that. Now the button you have to press is right under your trigger finger and the lever you have to flick is right under your thumb. Grab, press, flick pull hands apart. you can now put down the frame and just turn your left hand over and you are holding the slide exactly as he is in the video ready to finish dissassembly. Then when you put it back together, hold the slide the same way and as you reassemble the gun, keeep your thumb out and you can flick the lever back on the way past as you slide the slide right back onto the frame.

I love and own both of these pistols. 1992 G17 Gen 2 bought new. 1990 Beretta 92 bought used (like new) same day as the Glock. The Beretta was about 30% more $$$. After a month of testing each the G17 has been my EDC ever since. The Beretta is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I’d wanted one since I saw Lethal Weapon, LOL. I have had many offers for twice what I paid for the 92, but I can’t bring myself to sell it. It’s still like new because I don’t get much pleasure from shooting it, and it’s a pig to carry around all day. The Glock is better in every category. For the record I’ve always thought the Glock is very cool looking. The 92 is a Supermodel, the G17 Gen 2 is beautiful scientist. As for all else the Glock has better accuracy out of the box, much more reliable, a much better safety system, will eat any ammunition you shove down it’s throat, has faster target acquisition, and is a shit ton lighter.
@EfftupSmith
3 жыл бұрын
In what way is it a much better safety system? Both have drop safeties, both have firing pin block safeties. On the Beretta you can put the gun on safe AND put your thumb on the hammer as you holster it. So that's safety on, double action trigger AND thumb on hammer. Even if something gets snagged in the trigger guard as you holster it (like your shirt if you are carrying inside waistband) then that is not going bang. On the Glock, the only thing stopping it going off is snagging just the edge of the trigger. a tiny bit more material snagged to hit the trigger dingus and that gun is going bang when you holster it and there's nothing you can do about it. And then when you dissamble the gun you HAVE TO break fundamental law of gun safety number 3 by squeezing the trigger. It only takes a moments inattention or distraction to either forget to rack the slide or rack the slide and THEN remove the magazine and you have a live round in that chamber. with the Beretta you can do the entire dissassembly with the safety on AND you don't have to touch the trigger to take it apart. and no, you are NOT RELYING on a manual safety. you are using the manual safety as back up for when you forget to follow the 4 fundamental rules of gun safety. Yes, you DO have to train to sweep the safety off as you take the gun out of your holster but you should train all aspects of any firearm you are using. The Glock is going to be better in the situation where you are under extreme duress and have to pull the gun and fire NOW, as opposed to being in danger, and having the time while assessing the threat to pull the gun., sweep off the safety and even cock the hammer to have the same trigger pull for all shots. The life saving quickdraw Is likely to be a once in a lifetime moment, and fumbling with a safety could get you killed, but putting the gun in your holster is something you do EVERY TIME you carry the gun, and you do have to clean it regularly too.

I own both, a M9 and a Gen 5 G19 and I like them equally. The M9 is more of a range gun and a target slayer, good home defense choice as well. The G19 is better for everyday carry, and hard everyday use. You can practice all you want with the beretta. But come 4 am, panicked woken from deep sleep, someone approaching your bedroom fast…you want to deal with the safety or decocker? What position is the hammer in? With the Glock either rack it or if you keep it with one in the chamber then just shoot. For me that’s the difference. I’ve had my 92FS since 1990 and my Glock 34 since 2010. I’m highly used to familiar with both but I’d still not trust myself to get shot off with the 92FS as quickly as I would with my Glock.

My girlfriend wears a Beretta all day with the safety off, a round in the chamber and the hammer cocked like a 1911 and she's never had a reaction problem. This is a matter of habit and skill with weapons. If the shooter has crooked hands, neither Beretta nor Glock will help him.

The Beretta comes apart easier than you made it look. If you hold the pistol normally, so your finger is forward, off the trigger, and grab the slide how you hold it once it's off the gun, the button is right under your trigger finger, and the takedown lever is right under your left hand thumb. Grab, press, flick, pull hands apart. You are already holding the slide in the right position to take out the recoil spring and guide rod. Also when putting it back together, if you continue to hold the slide in the same way, when you slide it back on the gun, you can flick the takedown lever back up with your thumb on the way past as you push the slide right back. One smooth movement.

92FS: more weight than a glock so it's more useful when you have no ammo. Has a hammer(a personal preference of mine), a double action single action, a fantastic safety decocker design. I can can casually strip it faster than anybody can hope to strip a glock. I've seen brass get stuck being ejected from a glock many times: NEVER have I seen that happen with a Beretta 92fs and I've fed it many times with cheap, dirty ammunition. Bang every time. It's cheap, and looks far more sexier than any ugly glock... The 92fs, beats a glock in every way, the way I personally see it. I love my 1911. But it's not as reliable as my 92fs. I will never buy a Glock!

Yes. The Glock is a good gun, but when it is put up against the Beretta, the Beretta will win every time.

There is no way I'd pick that p.o.s. glocl over a Beretta 92. I will take the 92 any day, hands down.

In a world of BS tech, lack of soul and intimacy btwn man and mechanical tools I prefer the Beretta. Similar to a dual clutch sports car vs a true manual. I guess I’m just old school.
