What is it?
The Go Talk 4+ is a lightweight, portable Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device with light-touch buttons.
How does it work?
Voice recordings can be made to correspond with picture inlays (rectangular sheets made up of six pictures which sit in front of the six buttons on the board). The top two pictures are ‘core’ message buttons and should stay the same on each sheet. The Go Talk 4+ can hold up to twenty different messages (four changeable buttons x five layers of recording) at any one time. Custom-made inlays can be created using pictures or symbols from the Internet, cut from magazines or drawn.
How could it be used to support SEND?
This device could be used as an introductory communication aid to support the development of independence in someone with communication difficulties. It is great for choice-making, taking part and making needs known. Foreign language inlays with translated audio could also be used to support language learning.
Where can I get one?
The Go Talk 4+ can be borrowed from West Sussex Library Service: www.westsussex.gov.uk/understa...
Also available: Go Talk Pocket and Go Talk 9+.
Please note: the Go Talk 4+ requires 2 x AA batteries.
