The end car has an operators cab, so the train is operational at both ends of the train. Go Transit has been doing that for a good number of years.

If you saw the traffic congestion in the Greater Toronto Area, you'd see why Toronto has these large passenger or 'Commuter' trains. This particular station is a good hour away from the city on one of the 6 track lines. There are 10-12 bi-level cars on each train, depending on route.

well, the thing is, they run forwards in the morning (4 times) and backwards in the evening (4 times) I just film these ones because I'm not up between 5:40 and 7:40 AM.

Another reason these coaches look so tall is the near-rail-level platforms common in North America. In other parts, particularly Britain and Australia, platforms are at or near carriage floor level. But if this is the Down line, where is the Up line (i.e. the line for traffic in the other direction)?

to further add to your comment.. on this particular line it runs 4 times backwards and forwards. Lines such as the Lakeshore line run every hour, back and forth along the line. Traversing Oshawa to Hamilton.

yeah the problem with our rail lines here is that most of the lines GO Transit uses are shared with our two national industrial rail corps CN and CP Rail. Its difficult to maintain frequency in the commuter rail when industry tends to get priority on the lines. It sucks but an inevitable truth I suppose. This was probably the only outcome to ensure volume regardless of frequency.

Duh because the train cant have 2 engines! the back of the train get its power though the engine with cables attached to each car, the engine is moving the train, its just pushing it, not pulling it, the engineer at the back is controlling the engine with the back of the train! By the way, what station and what line is it, it looks to me like its Richmond hill, am i right?
