Unfortunately I am too young to have seen SRV live, but I had the opportunity to watch the keyboardist play with Joe Bonamassa a few years ago and wow did not disappoint!!

Boy! Talk about balls to the walls! Great keyboard playing and Stevie yeah, he just lets himself get in the zone and it's almost like all the playing comes out without any need for concentration.

He played better behind his head than I do with the guitar right in front of me!

IMHO Stevie picked up where Jimi left off and would have surpassed him relatively quickly, had he not met his tragic and untimely end. He was totally unique in so many ways that we're not likely to see his level or degree of talent again. RIP SRV.

Man what a beast on the guitar only one other that is comparable IMO to Stevie but the n rock guitar is Eddie Van Halen both of these guys can dance and jump and sing while playing leads and both pioneers of there particular genres and playing the guitar or bringing out the mood of the guitar ridiculous

What really impresses me here is his rhythm work. Not the part itself, but the way he plays it. The groove is perfect. Any lead player worth a tinker's dam can play rhythm, but it takes a master to shred like that then lock in that tight while someone else takes it.
