The fact that the Pixel 6A has the Tensor SOC is the main reason everyone should pick this Android phone over any other. The reason being that Google created their own SOC because QualComm refused to allow operating system updates (requires changes to drivers) for more than 2 years. This is why, until recently, most android devices wouldn't received more than 2 years of updates. The only reason more modern Android phones are getting 3 years of OS updates, is because QualComm saw the writing on the wall when Google started creating their own SOC. Google now offers 3 years of OS updates on the PIxel 6 and newer phones, and up to 5 years of security updates. QualComm really had no option but to follow along or lose sales. Another thought is that Google may eventually increase the number of OS updates to 4 or 5, depending upon whether the hardware can keep up with the software. I personally own both the Pixel 6A and the Pixel 6 Pro. My spouse has my old Pixel 5. I've owned every Pixel since original Pixel XL and I can honestly say there is NO OTHER Android phone I would rather own.

I used to buy flagships 10 years ago and got tired of spending money when every year new great features came out. So I moved to lower mid range phones and changed a bit more often and I was frustrated by phones quickly getting slow etc. Now I have the Pixel 6a and it's a perfect combination of both worlds.

I own the iPhone 14 pro max and purchased the 6a out of curiosity. I paid £280 for a brand new device and to be honest I'm disgusted with the price paid for the iPhone! I mainly use my pc, i dont use my phone (iPhone SE 1st gen) much, im a counter-strike player, been playing since 2002, so im used to 120-165hz with 0ms input lag on CRT monitors, i usually run my desktop on 60hz but sometimes when i feel like it i'll use 120, 144 or 100 for like a month (but it makes the image a bit blurrier because CRT). Trust me when i say this, high refresh rate on a phone is stupid, its pretty, it particularly helps apple out a lot because iPhones are better optimized, so the 120hz refresh is better fed with iPhone because they will hold 120fps more often, terrible idea for Android where Galaxies and Xiaomis have some serious framerate dips after aging. But all in all, i wouldnt even care for 120hz on a phone, first off because its stupid to cramp that refresh rate on such a tiny screen with the input lag that all the filters and post process on cellphones introduce (specially on Apple and Samsung, lots of Antialiasing going on in the background). Take from someone who is used to 165hz on PC , 0ms input lag and top tier gaming mice and mousepad, you REALLY dont need high refresh rate in your little phone, if you get it take it, but never ask for it, you DEFINITELY want that budget to go somewhere else on a phone, and if you got a 120hz phone with a small battery you may find yourself going down to 60 to extend battery life anyways....

My £130 as new eBay X3 pro has FPS (every time) and face, even full price way less than $500 equivalent. You don't get the 2027 security updates tho, so it's a trade off. I also have 6a, it's fast and not bad, but the FPS and slow charging is annoying from time to time.

Refreshing review it's about the user experience the processor is everything. I always tell people if you want an Android phone buy a Pixel it's the official phone for the best software experience on any Android. You will get software updates first before any other Android phone . Google Pixel is the Iphone of Android kingdom. Samsung is a great phone but it's not the official phone for Android. Samsung include features on top of pure Android which I don't care for not saying they are bad I just prefer pure Android and the way it's meant to operate. Google Pixel have features that you can only get on a Pixel phone. People get caught up on hardware and the new thing refresh rate when the software runs smoothly the refresh rate doesn't matter.
@StevealiciousTech

And don't yet me wrong, I love my S22 Ultra but it seems on that A53 that Samsung really fumbled it and the best processor you can get in that price range is going to matter more in the long run than a higher refresh rate for sure. Especially for the type of consumer they are trying to attract.

Android equivalent of iphone.. please stop. They (google phones) have only 3 years of SW updates ( 5 years of security) iphones have 5 Years of software updates. Close to that number is only Samsung with 4 years. Google pixel now has an issue with softwae updates with all pixel 6 phones (the updates are delayed).
@StevealiciousTech
2 жыл бұрын
That's what they are going for. Yes...high powered, cut costs elsewhere and provide. And the updates are delayed but they come out and the Android 13 beta is excellent. My A53 5G is a month behind in updates. Samsung does that on their flagships but this isn't a flagship either.

If you just give me a flagship processor and better camera you have actually given me a flagship phone. I don't think I can even use my phone at 60hz because I don't play games and I don't see myself scrolling with speed because I'm either looking for something or reading something, or chatting or watching KZitem videos or movies

I’ll take a 60 hertz well performing display like the 6a over a 120 hertz choppy display like the a53 5g. People are such phone and tech snobs. I am borderline into tech, but I’ve never once bought a phone and was like damn it’s 60 hertz so I can’t use it. I’m using an iPhone SE 2020 now that has a 60 hertz display and I don’t care about bragging rights which is why I suspect so many make a big deal over it. The fact is I don’t care if it works. Because dirty little secret, every phone has trade offs. You can bet a 120 hertz display or higher may be smooth but you’ll lose battery life. So again, I’ll take the 6a all day long over high refresh rate or insane 4k and 8k video I’ll never use.

The only downside of this phone is the average battery life which might get worse in the upcoming years. My prior phone the Nokia 5.3 gave me 3 days battery life even after 3 years post the android 12 update, this despite having a bigger screen and a lesser 4000 Mah battery.
@StevealiciousTech
Жыл бұрын
Well, some differences. I had that phone as well. The processor was nothing like the Tensor, which is going to consume less power. The display was large but only 720p which takes less power to output and less of a drain on the battery. I agree it's not the 5.3 battery, but the trade off in performance is worth it.
