I always love the small touches in this: "Has he?" "She, sir." 🐈

the cowboy hat at the end leads to another sketch. this is often how they transitioned from one sketch to another on their tv show. the show was usually a conglomeration of unrelated themes linked loosely through absurd and weird transitions. but on a rare occasion they would have a "single subject" episode. 2 of these are my favorites. there's "mr. neutron" and "the cycling tour." their unique blend of slapstick, word play, absurdity, risque and intellectual humor made them THE BEST comedy tv show ever in my book. thanks for the video.

This is my favorite Python sketch, and the live version they did in the '80s is even better. Palin actually makes Cleese break character and snicker!

Not every Python skit hit home, but the series contained an exceptionally high percentage of absurdist gems. While you are figuring out the copyright hoops, you might want to consider some films that have fallen into the Public Domain (mostly pre-1928, but some more recent). I'd suggest Buster Keaton's brilliant _The_ _Navigator_ and _The_ _General_ if you haven't seen them. Just be aware that some restorations for sale recently have added frames, sharpening/retouching, or music that might conceivably be claimed as new copyrighted content and should be skipped or muted.

You should see the 1979 edition that was performed at the Amnesty International Secret Policeman’s Ball. Your jaws will be stretched by the end. And I think it’s a better version.

Also see John Cleese with others like Rowan Atkinson and Peter Cook doing sketches on the Secret Policeman's Ball benefit shows. Also Rowan Atkinson on the sketch show Not The 9 O'clock News (like the Python Worshipers sketch). I see someone did a short excerpt from Cleese's Faulty Towers show called "Don't talk about the war" - one of the most memorable bits.

Gotta love Python... (and a good Bouzouki! ha ha... I'm surprised he didn't ask for FETA, since there seemed to be a Greek theme... but we all know the answer) HIGHLY Recommended: PLEASANTVILLE (amazing film that starts out comedy and dips beautifully into a social commentary... in a very unique way) STRANGER THAN FICTION (Great hidden gem starring Will Ferrell (yes!) in a dramatic role that co-stars Emma Thompson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Queen Latifah and Dustin Hoffman) ARRIVAL (The best, most realistic, brilliant alien arrival film of all) CHILDREN OF MEN (Dystopian future... but shockingly relevant and brilliantly directed / acted / filmed) AMELIE (Quirky, hilarious, masterfully-directed French film... truly memorable) GRAVITY (Sandra Bullock stars with George Clooney in this epic space drama... the same director as Children of Men) BATTLESTAR GALACTIC (the newer series... not the cheesy 70s version. One of, if not THE greatest Sci Fi series, ever. Absolutely top-notch drama / acting / directing / effects. Start with the epic Mini-Series... then move into the episodes. You'll fall in love with this show. To show you how good it is... watch this comedy clip from PORTLANDIA (Don't worry... there's NO spoilers) kzitem.info/news/bejne/oq9-vq6Pjad9nGk. Yes. It's THAT good. Cheers!
