The annual autumn steam gala at the GCR has come around again and as usual it's non stop action across the four days. The two main attractions for the gala were GWR '4566' courtesy of the SVR and 78018 which is the Great Central's newest addition to their fleet and possibly the most famous of all the 2MT's, after famously getting stranded in a snowdrift at Bleath Hill in February 1955, which resulted in the film 'Snowdrift at Bleath Hill' being produced. The homefleet were all in attendance except the N2.
As normal there was an array of passenger trains, double headers, freight trains, mineral trains and the exciting postal trains which feature at the end of the video. The coverage is taken over two days (fri & sat) with the conditions being mainly overcast, though with a north easterly wind present this enhanced the sound of the locos. Eight out of the ten locomotives booked for the event feature in this video.
Another super display from the GCR and credit to all the volunteers who make this event possible. I hope you you enjoy the coverage.
Locos & locations feature in the video.
