I switched to double overhand for 99% of my deadlifts after injuring my low back. The difference between my DOH and Mixed Grip DL is 20 lbs max. Nowadays, my grip strength outlasts my workouts, and if i feel they are becoming a deficit, a few weeks of accessory grip work is all i need. Edit: for ref: my DOH DL is 355 and my MG DL is 375.

Awesome stuff - I love grip strength stuff - arms/forearms got plenty of workout from doing construction back in the day and carrying furniture - but I only really started doing stuff specifically for it recently when I started up my 5/3/1 stuff again - had some strains from moving furniture and doing 2 to 3 jobs a day blah... anyway I grab like a four pound mallet and do lever lifts with it by holding the end of it and forward and side to side for wrist and hand strength... I go heavier when I can with an 8 pound hammer cut down and move my hand down the handle depending on how beat up it fees... and I plan eventually on getting some grippers like you said, but for now conditioning is my main goal and maybe in a year or so and I am lifting more often (better conditioning) I'll try going a bit crazy on the grippers - I do holds also when doing pull ups etc... see how long I can hold my arms neutral grip at 90 degree angle!!! My last name is Weaver and there is the Weaver stick - basically a broom handle with a very small weight on the other end and you do lever lifts with that - because the handle is so long you don't need much weight... I plan on making one of those soon ;-)!

I love juji but I think iron-mind grippers are the best ones on the market right now. Unfortunately no matter what brand you get, the variance within a certain level of grippers is very high, so some #2 or #3 grippers are going to be much harder than others of the same number.

It can take a while to recover when you overtrain it (which probably won‘t happen since you really have to do a lot of training for that). Besides that I think it can recover quite quickly especially when don‘t tax it too much.

Hey Cailer could you please talk about if conjugate training has to be adapted to raw lifting and how to do so in your next vid
@Jmack7861
5 жыл бұрын
Several people have done it successfully, you just have to mess with the movements to not just be too focused because you don’t lift in gear. For instance fuck box squats, so paused instead etc. Matt wenning and Gary and Simon from massthetics had some good videos on it back in the day, Dave Tate also coaches most people with a conjugate style for raw lifting
