@Frosty LoneWolf that will do it. Bigger pots don't equal faster growth! In a big plastic nursary pot the soil is only going to dry out around the root zone so if your root zone is let's say 4 inches in diameter and your pot is one Foot in diameter, you have 8 inches of soil that won't dry out unless it evaporates. Being in a plastic pot that will take some time! That's why I always recommend grow bags. The recommendation for pot size is one inch bigger then the rot zone of the plant. If using grow bags you can go bigger and more closely mimic in ground growing thus grow the plant bigger faster. Root rot is the number 1 killer of house plants.

Make sure to include musa velutina. I think with proper mulching and properly placed they just may be able to grow in ground in your area with proper mulching. I know they over winter in ground as far north as north Carolina un protected.

@Frosty LoneWolf it sure does! It's my second full time job. Learning from others mistakes so you don't make the same will help a lot! I've been growing all my life and at 45 I still learn a few new things every year! Just remember plants are living beings not just some brainless mass they do communicate with each other and react to their environment to make sure they survive and reproduce. If you are interested in learning more of the science behind plant interaction I can post some links to some amazing research videos, it will open a whole new world for you.
