I think most people ask about having to register their gun, because the LAST thing they want is to be charged with a crime of owning an unregistered firearm. I LIKE that they ask, because it means they want to be lawful gun owners. They're try to err on the side of caution. Just please tell me you're there to educate them in a helpful manner on what needs to be done. And promise to always do your best to never make someone feel stupid, for trying to follow what they think is the law.

Registration of a firearm will NEVER prevent a crime. It will NEVER prevent weapons from falling into the wrong hands. Why? Because criminals will not register their firearms. The purpose of registration of a firearm is to enable law enforcement to identify, disarm, and prosecute violent criminals AFTER a crime is committed. Registration of a firearm will never benefit you and keep the community safe. Once a firearm is registered if the government deems it a threat for you to have a firearm because they “ want to keep the communities safe “ or “ they don’t like what you said “ or “ you wore the wrong color shirt that day ” then it will make it much easier for them to trace and confiscate your firearm. Let’s go over the pros and cons of registration one more time: Pro's: It'll make confiscation easy, and it'll make it easier to identify stolen firearms AFTER they've been used in a crime. Con's: It'll make confiscation easy, and it won't do a damn thing to solve gun crime.

You guys in the USA are so lucky compared to us in Canada. We are not allowed any automatic firearms. We have a magazine limit of five rounds on centre fire cartridges. This is ridiculous and we need a change in our laws. This only hurts the honest gun owners, if your going to commit a crime you can easily remove the magazine pins. Thank God that they scrapped the long gun registry. That was a major waste of time and money.

I had a civics teacher who was just like that. We were required to read 15 minutes every class, and if you didn't have a history/law/military related book, he had gun magazines you could read. He was the best teacher I ever had. He was a pilot, a historian, and had worked as a civilian in the Navy. If he were allowed to carry his gun in the classroom, he would've. Just with lawmakers could acknowledge the existence of such people and see competently armed teachers are a direct deterrent of crime on school campuses.

I pointed out my age and let them know (after I was done laughing) that I'm not a dumb high school kid who's unaware of his rights. They, of course, did the whole make me wait around for a drug dog and all that so it took about two hours but there was nothing in the car. Physically I don't look like the kind of guy who should be driving a BMW maybe? Or perhaps the cops were just being dicks and wanted to see if I'd fall for that line.

Our laws are a lot different up here in Canada. They are a lot stiffer. I believe if you want to register something it should be the person with a license that should be registered. A weapon is only a tool. The dangerous thing is the person who is holding the weapon. Here it is only legal to own a restricted weapon if you have a gun club membership and it is only legal to shoot a restricted weapon at the gun club range. A restricted weapon is a hand gun or an AR style rifle, and any other weapon they want to add to the list. Wish we had your gun laws up here. Keep up the great work and god bless.

I appreciate what you guys do and I have learned alot watching your videos. I agree with nearly everything you guys say, but on this issue I think you're a bit misguided. The very fact that the FFL exists is a defacto registration. Being able to follow a paper trail that easily is in fact a form of registration. How can you not see that? The FFL system is totally illegal and unconstitutional. It has been used as a system of tracking weapons nationally, whether or not there is a master database is inconsequential. Whether or not it's a conspiracy is inconsequential. The fact remains there is data out there that attaches the buyer to a gun with completely unrestricted access by the feds. Sounds kinda registry-ish to me! Either way, love what you guys do and keep up the good work.

One thing about the 4473. When a dealer closes his business all those forms are required to be shipped to the ATF. What they do with them after that, I don't know. But they do keep those records. In WA we do have a sort of registration. Handguns purchased from a licensed dealer must be recorded on a state form that is sent to the state department of licensing. When a cop runs your driver's license, they will know what you've purchased and if you have a conceal license.

HOWEVER, I applied as a reserve at a small police department where I knew everyone, and had worked closely with them due to my other job. During the application process I learned that EVERY SINGLE HANDGUN PURCHASE I had made in the last 10 years where I used my Concealed Permit, was in a database. Make, model, serial number, caliber, where it was purchased and how much I paid for it. They wanted to know why I owned so many guns.

It also allows for better catching of the assholes who buy firearms and intentionally sell them to criminals to get around the back ground checks.

Unfortunately the term restricted is variable as guns are added to the list based on either looks or notoriety. My AR is classed as restricted but my SKS is not. All hand guns are restricted and confiscation has occurred when the pointy heads in Ottawa deem your weapon not necessary.

In a move blasted by rights groups, a 3-year-old-deaf boy has been told by his Nebraska school district to change the way he signs his name because the gesture resembles shooting a gun. Hunter Spanjer uses the standard S.E.E., Signing Exact English. He crosses his index and middle fingers and waves them slightly to signify his name. And, Grand Island Public Schools' policy forbids any "instrument" that "looks like a weapon". This is 20 miles from me and makes me sick!!!

On the school system thing, not all schools are like that. I am proud to say that at my school, specifically this year I may be allowed to completely restore an original 1771 Brown Bess Musket. Still working on it but for my studies (military history) I will most likely be able to do this. And it will be badass, can't wait.

Cool Video guys appreciate you explaining these kind of thing to the sheeple! I understand what your talking about when it comes to the registration issue. However here's the question I have you said that when an individual comes in and files a 4473 form that after it is filled out it goes into a safe and never seen again unless it's stolen. But isn't all that information given to the Feds when the dealer calls for approval of sale. So therefore there is a registration process for the 1st buyer.

The sad thing is, Pauly Perette went to school for Forensics. Remember that the writers don't always research the things they write into the script. And also remember that the NCIS building is a little office on Oceana that resembles a doublewide.

My son was suspended for drawing a pict of a gun. Also in Ca, the DROS IS the gun reg Esplly for "Assault Weapons" AB 809, introduced by Ass mber Feuer, changes Ca law to require reporting and retention of long gun information just as it previously required hand gun information.Beginning Jan 1, 2014, long gun information must be collected in the DROS process and sent to CA-DOJ, reported to CA-DOJ by people who move into Ca from out of state, reported to CA-DOJ as part of intrafamilial transfers

When searching "Gun Gripes .44" in an attempt to get .44 mag info, the search brought the 44th episode as the result. Which got me thinking, if each episode number should have matched a particular caliber, that would have been awesome...

In Michigan, all retailers keep a ledger that identifies the gun with the buyer. All 4473's are held at the store as well. Interestingly, if the store ever closes, these records have to be sent to the state police for 'safe keeping'.

on the note of school teachers being antigun: I had a physics teacher high school year ask me why i knew so much about guns because i was talking with a kid about guns, he justified the other guy as needing to know about guns because he was planning on joining the military, but not me. That said i used to have dummy 7.62 rounds hanging off my bag and nothing was ever said to me. I also had numerous shirts with guns on them and nothing was said'I just apparently had no business knowing about them

Im from Australia and our gun laws changed in 1996 after a shooting in Tasmania. They took all self loading weapons from the public as a knee jerk reaction to the shooting. You can still own a self loading rifle but you need to be a professional hunter or primary producer - farmer. My father lost a .308 semi auto, a mini 14, and .22lr semi auto. Keep your gun laws guys you are so lucky! I had to jump through hoops to get my Weatherby .243 bolt action!

One day i was texting my cousin who lives in the state over from me (indiana, im in ohio) and i was telling him about my most recent purchase at the time, being an fnp 40 handgun well he is still in highschool and he had forgotten his phone on the bus. Well they looked through the phone to see whose phone it was and they read our texts between eachother, so the next day he got searched and was threatened to be suspended! I cant explain how pissed off it made me! Absolute tyranny..

Give you a little of my background. I've asked lawyers, police departments etc on wether or not I'm allowed to possess a firearm and have gotten very minimal answers. So I recently went to Walmart and told the lady that I wanted to see if I'm allowed to possess/ buy a firearm. I told her that I've been in trouble before and never want to be again, just want to follow the law in regard to wether I can buy a gun. I filled out a 4473 and answered all of the questions true fully. On question "i" it

3:00 Thats why we should take the money government spends on public schools and give it directly to parents who need it ONLY to use on the private school of their choice. We do not need the public school system, it is detrimental to society because the standard is set by a "BAR" association who controls the entire industry and is prone to corruption in every aspect.

I've had my classmates who have never shot a gun in their lives get in my face and try to tell me that I bought my guns illegally from licensed dealers because I don't have "gun licenses" for each one ... It's ridiculous

When I was a kid in school, we once had a substitute teacher who was a real jerk, and I drew a cartoon of him being shot pretty graphically. My friends thought it was hilarious, but I'm sure these days I probably would have been out of that school immediately. Not every joke a kid makes means they actually intend violence and it's a shame kids are held to a standard that prevents them from having a childhood and a chance to do a few stupid things as they learn to be adults.

I guy I know in Maryland got asked by his doctor if he had any firearms in the house. The government is going to need us to snitch on one another to get what they want to work.
