Hands down, this entire ending is one of the most epic series of scenes in any movie ever. From the moment that door gets kicked in and Mas and Nick walk a bloodied and muddied Sato right the fuck up to the Senior Inspector, to the swelling of Hans Zimmer's kickass score during the awards ceremony, to the reveal of the plates to Mas, every scene is perfectly shot, masterfully acted, and accompanied by to one of the best musical scores I've ever heard. Simply EPIC.

Mas would have been more bad ass if in his free hand he carried the recovered H&K MP5A3 (no 30-round magazine, action locked back to show safe) and offering it to his Senior Inspector with two hands and a seniority-appropriate bow. “Hai, doozoo..!”

@@OVI-Wan-Kenobi-8 Of late it's a bit more: "Weeaboo is a mostly derogatory slang term for a Western person who is obsessed with Japanese culture, especially anime, often regarding it as superior to all other cultures." Not obsessed with Japan or its culture. I love it, of course. It's been my home for almost 20 years and I've been coming here almost 23. Certainly don't see Japan as superior to anywhere. I might be slitting hairs. But, amongst foreigners here in Japan, the term has a mainly derogatory meaning. :-)

Movie came out in September of 1989, he passed in November. It's one of the biggest what ifs in Hollywood history.
I just read an article on the actor playing Sato. He had cancer during filming, but regardless of what he was going through, he didn't want to quit working. Such a strong minded and determined man. 🥺😟 #fuckcancer
Not only is this film a perfect way to close out the 80s but also Yusaku Matsuda put in one of the best villain performances Ive ever seen. His acting for Sato chilled me to the bone it was that good. Magnificent actor and such a terrible loss that he passed away after this film. We are all poorer without the roles he would have gone on to play. RIP.
Masa doenst judge Nick. He extends his hand before to get the plaques. True friendship works that way, on both hemesfheres. Respect to Japan and his brave people, from Brazil!
This flick was absolutely sick! I loved the movie since I first watched it.

I love how the character develops through the movie. especially Nick. that bit when Masa explained about how Nick was wrong to have taken the money, and he said thanks as Masa refilled his beer, was so very well done. "Thanks for the beer, but thanks for telling me what I need to hear."

Yes and no. Masa said if Nick stole money dishonored all of them or "you did something wrong and have to pay for it but you are a policeman. And a good too. Nothing you can make erase this". And that is what Nick need to hear. He knew stole was bad, he said it, but he couldn't accept all his life like policeman serving and protecting was missing for it.

Nick-san returning the plates made up for his previous mistake of stealing as a cop in the US. Nick-san redeemed his honor as well as the honor of all policemen including Mas. Mas has a new found respect for Nick-san from his expression.
