This is all so bizarre considering the characters are based off the cast of Home Improvement (watch the Halloween short) and they actually were considering doing a season without the mom, because the actress playing Jill didn't want to do.another season, and they were going to say she died. But Tim Allen decided against it because it would have been weird killing off the mom. This is like a weird alternate version of the Jill-less Home Improvement where its just the big strong boys all grown up. The later seasons actually were kind of like this, with Brad being a nice jock and Randy being way overly nice and charitable, moving to Peru to help save the rainforest. He started out as a little wise ass and turned into a nerd. and this is like how Mark turns out after his goth faze.
