its sad that we watch this genuinely healthy family dynamic and it comes across as so surreal.
@choronos

I get what you're saying, but I think the visuals are what makes it surreal. The visuals look like a typical adult-themed animation that might devolve into violence and yelling at any moment. When that violence and yelling doesn't come, and all we get are genuinely positive interactions between the characters, something feels strange about it. I personally think the juxtaposition of the deliberately hideous characters and their healthy interactions with each other is a commentary on the sad state of popular entertainment.

@@choronos There is definitely that subversion of expectations with the unsettling visuals and the characters (especially the girlfriends faces) but i also feel as though the cadences of their performance are so pure yet so unnatural at the same time? @choronos

@@toby7032 I agree, I think the intense facial expressions and the way the shots are framed reinforces that sense that something will go wrong. The fact that we're trained to expect things to turn dark and violent because of the cinematic language being used is what I think Joe Cappa might be satirizing with these shorts. Or it could not be that deep, and he's just subverting our expectations for fun.

Listen to your intuition when in conversation. As someone tells you the often forgotten how my day is going an how's your day goings feel the subliminal messages of the person's subconscious really don't depend on word's.
