The Halo X line is the best out there, even if their not 1280 res. I've been through the spectrum of scopes too( MKII hunter, Halo LR, XG50) and when NVis said they were coming out with a scope that has an 18650 power source, recording and buttons on the top for ambi use, I started selling off my other scopes and bought an X50. Best purchase I've made in a long time. Great review.

9k for 640 12um is just a bit much when you can get 640 12um sub 5k with the InfiRay PFN 640…

Going to throw my ignorance out in the open. I've been looking into getting a thermal optic for the past month because my coyote population has gotten out of hand. I've notice that my turkey and deer numbers have dropped a lot over the past few years and the dog number have grown. I first came across Pulsar and then IRay and the IRay seemed to be a better option based on image quality (from what ive seen on youtube). I heard the Halos had the best image quality over all manufactures and wondering if its just me. I'm not seeing the XRF image quality (based on videos) being better than the Rico Alpha. Is it something you just have to experience in person with the optic or are my eyes drunk? Like at 6:18, the dog looks fine, but the what seems to be grainy pixilated over lay is bothersome.

I’m gonna make a video about this exact topic soon. Yes, N-Vision has the best 640 image. Right behind them is Trijicon (but I would rarely recommend them unless for niche reasons) then Pulsar and iRay are neck to neck after Trijicon. The difficulty in portraying that is because the different scopes have different screen resolutions and data saving resolutions. For example, N-Vision saves the resolution at 640x480 and Pulsar saves at 1024x768. So even though N-Vision uses better glass, a better sensor, and a better processor, the fact that their playback is at a lower resolution makes their imaging look not as good when put on social media. I hope all that made sense. For local people, I enjoy showing them a table of thermals in hand to see exactly what they look like in the field side by side. So if you live around College Station, TX just let me know

Any comes with a 2k or 1K scope screen? Many are dated with lousy resolution of 480P & less.

Is there an option on the X series to turn off the reticle changing contrast. Not a huge deal, but would prefer a reticle that isn't blinking back and forth with the heat contrasts. Thoughts?

There is not, that is a feature of using the BAE sensor and core but its very easy to get used to. For a long time it was the nicest way to get contrast from the reticle over the image, and later everyone else moved to colored reticles
