Not many people do so much work with the tools you use that is what I call a true craftsman. Great skills

I'd never seen chiseling the tenon before. Thanks for sharing the pencil marking trick for the tenon fitting!

I told myself I wasn’t gonna be a hand tool woodworker for health reasons but I find myself thinking more and more of making or buying the router and shoulder planes.

Hi Chad, thank you for your constant dedication to teaching us-there are so many great tips in all your videos and newsletters. I too prefer splitting the tenon cheeks and fitting them with a router plane. That pencil lead tip is brilliant-I have not seen that used before. God bless!

Thanks for sharing the progress and the tips Chad. I'm really looking forward to seeing how you make your Cupid's bow without a coping or bow saw. The only other method I can think of would be to make a series of stop cut with a saw and then do the rest of the work with a chisel and possibly a spoke shave. Anyway, see you next time.

Great video and just in time. I need to do a couple of mortise and tenons soon. Thanks, and keep up the good work. I have enjoyed your videos for several years.

This was very instructive. Using the smeared pencil marks to determine where the wood needs to be relieved is brilliant. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
i always use a router plane to come to final thickness as it keeps the cheeks level which will make the piece sit in the mortice squarely. no gaps either side of the joint.

Ditto Taylor below. I Use the router plane to finesse my Cheeks. First time I have seen the chisel to chop the cheeks. But.. Many ways to skin the cat 😁
