When there is a profession that could elicit laughs, John Daily ALWAYS begins the questioning with Steve Allen, whose questions are, I believe, prepared with the knowledge of the profession. It can't be just coincidence that Steve Allen always begins and that his questions "innocently" wander into hilarity.

Sometimes I wonder if the show told the guest panelists what questions to ask.

I know I'm literally a decade late, but I think they did give them some pre-lines, quite what percent they were given I am not sure, maybe just some jokes or question to ask, but not know the final answer. There were a few times when the shock or the 'OH I GOT IT NOW' surprise seemed genuine though, so either they are really good actors, or it's not all planned. Oddly a bit like how modern pro wrestling works.

That was just part of the beauty and uniqueness of Dorothy as a panelist. Much missed after she was gone.

Ironically enough, many years later, the name of the character played by Kaye Ballard on the 2-season sitcom THE MOTHERS-IN-LAW was - guess what? Kaye Buell. Fun fact.....Very entertaining clip; thank you for sharing this with us!

Shape of things to come. Steve Allen is a guest panelist in November 1952. From Jan 1953 to March 1953, Allen and Block would appear together during Block's last six appearances. Allen very funny. The mystery guest clip of this episode is posted in YouTubia: Walter Winchell.

Always calalilygirl! Her hair and glasses, which 1950's lad wouldn't say no to that? By the way are you a fan of retro styled items such as vintage clothes? Your username has a sweet rockabilly feel to it, could be a title to an Elvis song :3

This one is hard to figure out, even after watching the whole segment. The product is "shorts", they are painted, they are "underwear", but it would normal for people to see Steven in them in his home?!
@wardka

Wait. Paints *what* on men's shorts? And why? I'm very confused. I mean, mothers sending kids to camp might write their names in magic marker on the waist band, much to the child's embarrassment, but what in the world else would you paint on men's shorts? Maybe I don't want to know. Really cute guest though. She would have been considered just a tad nerdy back then, but today nerdy is in. She is really beautiful underneath the nerdiness.

Handpaints men's shorts..... hmmmm.... to me that could also sound like she paints on naked men in such a way that it would look like the men are wearing shorts!
