@@youcancallmemaster2680 I only partially agree. Hybrid vehicles, CVTs and FWD have their places, and are here to stay. Don't forget FWD is the most popular drive train at least in the United States and has been for a very long time. It all depends on what you need/what you're looking for. A box truck that's empty will easily get stuck in 8 inches of snow. A FWD SUV will have a much easier time. Looking at the Toyota Highlander, the 2021 is rated to tow 5,000 lbs. either FWD or AWD. All that being said, I do agree that using a Hybrid drive train on a truck is a little strange but don't forget trucks used to be electric a long time ago. Electric motors give you full torque on circuit closing. My problem is that these are Ford products and while I may buy an F-150 if I needed one, I'm not too sure about anything else Ford makes. I would rather buy a Hybrid truck from Toyota but there must be a reason why they haven't made a Hybrid version of either the Tacoma or the Tundra that I'm aware of.

When lookng at the value of the base XL, it makes me wonder whether it will be unobtanium as Ford would limit production of it due to its usage as a loss leader. A $20k truck that outclasses most sedans at their own game (efficiency and comfort) while still being more practical. The ecoboost is cool as well, but I just can't quite grasp the concept of a turbo 4 in a pickup, as I'd be so scared to overuse it and I'd feel the need to baby it. Skipped over the fact the XL doesn't come with basic cruise control in 2022? That feature has been around for 70 years. It's upsetting that they excluded a feature so cheap to implement and so important for anyone who drives on the highway. The fact they don't even make it a several hundred dollar option on the XL tells me Ford knows that the small feature will push a lot of people to get the XLT. It's purely for greed, no other reason to completely exclude that as an option on the XL. And for the apologists who say they did it to lower the cost, then why did Ford give the XL power windows, locks and mirrors, steering tilt/telescope, AC, an infotainment screen with carplay, etc. etc. ? They know exactly what they're doing. Edit: Don't get me wrong, I think the engineers made an incredible, affordable truck, but it's scummy when the business side of Ford plays stupid games like that.
