@@jochenbuhler4547 ok thanks 😊. Actually it’s my belief we will see the Bronx next year. The Bronx was supposed to come out this year before the 1250 Custom which doesn’t make sense because the 1250 Custom is the replacement for the Sportster which a higher selling model. Just my opinion.

Great review! After riding Harley’s for 40 years I jumped ship last year and got an R Nine T (which I love) only because Harley didn’t have any product that could compete with the BMW. This new machine changes that and maybe I’ll rejoin the fold!

Greetings from Australia. Fantastic, comprehensive, real world review ... thank you! I am encouraged by the fact that you are able to ride such a big bike as I am only two centimetres taller than you. My 2017 BMW S1000XR is about due for replacement and your review of the Pan Am has been very helpful in putting the Pan Am in the frame for me. At age 67 I don't do much off-road riding any more but I certainly do a lot of long-distance touring ... often covering anywhere from 800 to 1200 kms a day. The Pan Am seems like an ideal bike for that. The weight worries me a bit but we'll see how that goes when I get to do a test ride. My local HD dealer has a static model to look at but no test ride models until June. The Pan Am looks a lot better "in the flesh" than it does in videos and brochures and the the headlight is not as ugly/offensive as it appears in promotional material. I agree with you about the need for an advanced bike like the Pan Am to have a quick shifter. Thanks again for a terrific review.

Damn great job on the review!!! for those that don't think they will put this motor in a cruiser model you must be crazy!!! This motor will be in a bunch of bikes if this model sells well, but thats if this model sells well. It has some steep competition but hats off to Harley for trying. It seems with the exception of a speed shifter they may have hit a home run. In Canada it seems to be $4-5K less than the BMW GS bike. I wonder when it will be at the dealerships here, have to buy a disguise to enter the Harley store though!!!!!

The suspension was very comfortable in the Road Mode. In Sport Mode it was harder and sportier. For the Pan America Special with the semi-active suspension it depends on the mode you‘re in. Correct this bike sounds absolutely zero sound wise as a traditional Harley-Davidson motor. But then it isn't a traditional Harley-Davidson motor in fact it's a total departure from any motor Harley-Davidson has ever created except the V-Rod. Dirt off road bikes from Harley-Davidson maybe I'm just too old school but I think it would be good if they put this new motor and brought out the Bronx because I think that would be really appealing to the younger generation with this new motor in it.
